I just bought a PC 7424XP and it did come with the white pad. I also bought lake country white and blue pads. I used the PC white pad for the cleaning stage using Zaino Z-PC or Zymol HD-cleanse.

If you have any scratches needing polished out you'll most likely want to use the orange pad.

+1

I need to get the orange one for those times when needed to deal with scratches.

Question

I remember someone here advices us NOT to use the white pad that comes standard with Porter Cable 7424.
However, some detailing stores also tell me that I can use that white pad for waxing.

I am very confused and I have real stupid questions here:
Why/why not?
What can I use it for?

Where does it stand on this list here?
http://www.auto-geek.net/charts/buff...d-chart-lc.htm

Does it have a cutting power similar to that of the lake Country orange pad?

Thank You

If you are planning on getting rid of some serious swirls and scratches, get the 3.5 backing plate and 4 inch orange pads. The other expensive option is to buy flex instead.

I would not use it because it looks very flimsy and that it would seperate easily, causing the plastic piece of it to go into your paint.

Used the white pad with both Zaino All-in-1 and Zymol HD-Cleanse. Both produced excellent results.
