check engine

ive been having alot of hpfp failures, about 6 in the past 2 years. today i tried starting my car and it started to idle rough, but not to bad and alot of smoke wasing coming out of the exhaust it had a real strong gasoline smell. i tried turning my car off and restarting but the check engine light is is still on. could the cause be really cold weather...? (D.C. area) its about 45 degress outside.

i cant, ive owned the car for over 18 months so they wont lemon it. is there any other options out there???

I believe that lemon law applies through the warrenty period, but I may be wrong.
