Why do the american muscle cars have to look to the past for ideas about current cars. Just create a good modern design! The retro junk is horrible.
That is why I like the Camaro so much. It's a modern car, but you can still see its 1969 heritage in it. Though the interior is more retro then the exterior is.

Plus, that is the in thing right now with the market for muscle cars is retro.

Ok, I see your point, but I still disagree both in regards to the interior and exterior.

Yeah, there's still a good amount of hard plastics in the new Stang's interior, but I think it's infinitely better than both the Challenger's (not hard to do) and the Camaro's. The Camaro has, depending upon your tastes, the slightest edge in design. I think it' gimmicky. It's boring and full of black and grey. I sat in the new Stang GT's interior and was thoroughly impressed with the improvements. More leather, with relatively attractive stitching, tons of contrast with red, black and silver, and clean, understandable gauges. Not up to the level of the 370Z, and I'm assuming the MkVI GTi's will have all of these licked.

Exterior-wise, I think the Mustang is by far the best attempt at a modern design, and honestly, I really didn't give much of a shit for the last gen which everyone says looks pretty much the same. They really don't. The new model has the best surfacing out of the muscle trio. It has well laid out, taught, crisp lines that visually shrink the car and give it a muscular look. The headlights are no longer jokes, what with proper detailing and a much more serious attitude. The fact that its greenhouse isn't slammed flat with the body means you can actually see out of it, too.

so many badgewhores and so few car guys left on these forums

the 2010 mustang is pretty damn nice, the track pack versions are very quick on tracks, I'm not sure about short courses like autocross though

Just an FYI for those of you who think your 335s are better then a gt500 your nuts. My dad has 1 and with basic bolt ons hes looking at over 600hp.No words to describe how amazing it sounds while inside the car . If a gt500 owner did some suspension work in the rear, these cars with the stock blower can run in the 10s. No b.s its been done a hundred times. And im yet to see any 335i run close to that. Plus you can prob pick up a brand spanking new gt500 for about 45 46k if you shop around right. A fully modded/ fully optioned 335i runs close to 60k or more. Imagine putting 15 grand in a GT500.... Wouldnt even be close.

New GT500 is pretty badass. May not be a luxury equivalent to the 335i but it will flat out eat one on the road...

Lots of power but no thanks...I don't like the interior. I'd take my 335 anyday.

I'm no Mustang lover but the 2010+ interiors are way beyond anything you've seen in a mustang before. Not quite high-end German nice, but if you want Armani suit sophistication on the interior of a loud 550 hp GT coupe you can buy what? An AM DB-S for $250k?

I kind of like the new Mustang interior...

Why design just another generic modern car that will be dated the moment the next new thing comes out, and that people will complain that it's just a clone of "_________" other new car?

I prefer a car with a direct design heritage, and the Mustang is perfect at that. It's now like the original Mustang was consistently updated since it came out in '65 (almost forgetting about the Mustang II and Fox square Mustangs). Modern detailing with classic design cues. That's different than retro, which is a new product designed to look like a generic classic product (the PT Cruiser was a good example of this: it replicated nothing of the past, and had zero design heritage, but took old cues and applied them to a modern small hatchback wagon).

I've driven the new Mustang GTs (both the '05-09 version and the '10 update) and they are everything that was right abut classic musclecars along wiht everything that makes a modern car so useable. They DO handle good, ride good, go like stink for cheap, and have a look that is definitely not generic and forgettable. I love the interior as a place to be (but then again, I remember actual old musclecars and actual old Japanese and German cars, and have spent way too much time in very spartan race car interiors, so I may have a bit more overall perspective than an inexperienced kid like you).

The modern BMWs may feel like quality cars, but the reality is the history of modern BMS is worse on the reliability front than cars like the Mustang, so apparently even though the dash strokability is high, the appearance of quality is just an illusion. Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of a lot of BMWs, and the value of good used ones is outstanding if you're in the market for a used luxury sports sedan, but lets not kid ourselves, as an actual car the Mustang is really good.

I thought about going with a cobra b/c I've been an american car guy my whole life. Just the interior alone turns me off, my 335i is the complete package- speed and comfort. Mustangs/Camaros/etc are just the speed IMO
