New owner of a 2008 335xi, few questions

Hi Everyone,

I just recently picked up a 2008 335xi with 25k, CPO, Space Gray, Auto, Navi/Premium/Cold/Logic7/DynamicCruise. I love the car so far, its plenty fast for a DD, comfortable even in the cold up here, and I'm sure the AWD will come in handy when the weather takes a turn for the worst.

I just started to do some more in depth reading about different aspects of the car, and noticed the stickied thread at the top of this forum about software induced turbo lag (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=147781). My 2008 has a build date of 11/2007 according to the VIN, which falls between the dates in the BMWNA press release (http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/11/18...n54-turbo-lag/). Is there a chance this software and lag could exist on my car? I have no prior driving experience of a 335 so I can't tell if the way it behaves is normal or if I'm missing out unknowingly. If there is a chance, is this something I should bring up with the dealership? I've only been once to get routine service done, and they seemed pretty nice.

Also, and I realize this is a pretty vague question, but are there any particular sounds or characteristics I should keep an eye out for that may be a sign of HPFP (or any, for that matter) failure? Like I said, this is a CPO 335i that the previous owner didn't drive very hard and it hasn't shown any signs of anything failing, but I just want to have all my bases covered by knowing if a certain sound or action means I should get it looked at. I've never driven an FI car prior to this one, so when it comes to turbos and wastegates and their potential for failure, I don't know much. I'm doing what I can to learn though

Anyway, I suppose this is a little long-winded, and some might laugh at the questions, but it is in the interest of higher learning and knowing everything I can about the new car so I can treat her right

Thanks!

Congrats on your car.

HPFP failure - or impending failure is usually accompanied by long cranks when starting the car. If it happens while driving, the car will go into 'limp mode' so that you can get home.

Ah ok. Right now she starts up almost instantly even in 0 degree weather, so I'll take that as a good sign.

Thanks!

great car in the snow, especially if you get snow tires.

I have two sets of rims, one from my summer high performance tires and a second for my winter snow tires......

Thanks Brad. Do you know about the linked issue regarding the software-induced turbo lag? Is that something that I should look into to see if I have that software?

so the HPFP issue is more common with the 2008 models?
