Car keeps limping in 4th gear during WOT pulls

mods: jb3 1.4 (gen 1 board), bms filter, bms o2sims, and ar catless dps.

here's a little background:
recently the car has been throwing engine malfunction lights during cold starts in the morning (not all the time) and as of yesterday during WOT pulls the car will limp in 4th gear. now my pump and injectors have been changed once so i just figured either my pump or injectors are on the way out so i wasn't too worried. but this time around the SES light will not disappear before all i had to do was remove the key fob and start it up again to make the light go away, now it won't even do that.

i know i need a BT cable to actually be for sure, but i just wanted to get some opinions as to what maybe going on.

thanks in advance!

my car was doing this lately ever since 1.4

i switched to procede and it hasn't had a limp since even when i beat on it mercilessly

not bashing the jb3 as i had it for a long time but my car didn't seem to happy with it at times... may be the same for you

did your jb have a gen 1 board? i've read that 1.4 and gen 1 boards don't mix too well.

do you have the official 1.4 chip? There were some beta version having that problem on high gears pulls.
Would be best for you to contact Terry...

Without the codes no one will be able to help. But SES light normally means misfire, injector, coil, plugs, downpipe/cat removal problems, etc. Just because the dealer "replaced" them doesn't always mean they did it properly.

Also with 1.4 you should be using a G2 board, it's a free update. That could also cause a SES light if the code is 2ABC when you BT scan it.

BMS has a list of codes and their meaning on their forum under support. They keep it pretty updated to best to check there. Normally "fuel injection release" type codes. If you get misfires/codes during cold start that is normally a dead-give away that it's not tuning related. As the tune is off during those conditions. So does not sound like a G1 problem there.

I've gotten quite a few emails from people who have the opposite experience... But did you contact BMS for support? They normally can help you identify and solve the problem quickly. Even if its not related to their products. Supporting a customer base of thousands now they've seen it all.

i beleive it was a gen 1 board... not sure but it was purchased around 2.5 yrs ago if thats any indication. it was not a chip direct from terry it was a chip i burned.

i know the stories go both ways some cars are happy with jb3 some are happy with procede. mine just seems to enjoy the procede a bit more as i could easily get my car to limp within 3-4 pulls and at random when not pulling.i will say i didnt have those problems on previous versions. well not as easily at least. but now with the procede try as i will it doesnt throw any codes.

you did the dp install yourself?

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with what map/boost levels you run as well. But running 1.4 on a G1 board is a sure way to get a lot of headaches. If whomever has your JB3 now has the same problem just direct them over to me or BMS for the free update.

Were you using any dp fix - like bms dp fix or rr dp fix?
