I know there have been many threads about foglights, but I'm having a hard time searching for my specific question.

I want to upgrade my foglights to HIDs, but my E92 is built in November 2006. Anyone know of a guaranteed, error-free HID foglight solution?

I have a "generic" Hid Kit available to me for free with the correct bulb size for the fog lights.

Is there anyway to avoid an error on a 2009 e92? Or do they not produce errors anymore?

For generic hid kit, try to buy one that is CANBUS ballast. Almost 99% of the HID kits out there are made in China, Taiwan & S Korea.

50w CANBUS type ballast will solve most of the issues, other than a single build 06 which required CANBUS and a canceller. If you have a local source, I'd advise you go try it out first. Else, CANBUS + canceller guaranteed no errors.

EDIT: For reference, the canceller that works has a 5.6 ohm resistor and 4700uF cap. The cap isn't necessary in this type of application, however. A 4 ohm and 15 ohm canceller were also tested. When you need to purchase a canceller, ensure you ask the supplier what resistor is inside.
