Question about use of BT scanner software

Is there a way to delete one code at a time. For instance, if I had a tuner code and a boost leak code, is there a way to just delete the tuner code before taking it in for service? I looked through the whole bavarian tech software and can not find a way to do this. Am I missing something here or it's just not possible? If not this really sucks because the service department can not figure out what is wrong with your car without any fault codes. I can not tell them what the problem is, because it would lead to suspicion. Thanks

You can go into the individual modules and delete the codes per module, but I have never tried deleting individual codes per module.

the BT tool is a must have for anyone with a lot of mods, especially a tune

Spot on. This is a shortcoming of marketing the tool as the modders best friend. The dealer tech must transmit codes in almost all diagnostic scenarios to get warranty work authorized. Let's email BT with this request.

Sure you can. I have deleted individual codes/faults using the BT scan tool and specifically retained others. For example, I deleted a couple of loose fuel cap codes but retained fuel pump codes so the dealer could justify replacing my HPFP, which they did.

If you delete all your codes, you might as well be stabbing yourself on the back, as codes must exist in order to get warranty work approved. Keep codes especially associated with HPFP issues and misfires. The idea is to delete just the tuner codes, if one happens to pop up.

Click on the individual modules (i.e. engine, fuel pump, transmission, etc.) There will be regular and shadow codes within each module. Delete the ones associated with tuning. Leave all other codes intact in your ECU. Educate yourself on codes, run them through the search function on this forum to determine what they imply, as well as the code spreadsheet that is floating around on one of the threads.

It is strongly recommended that you do not use the global function to delete all codes and parameters, as that may cause problems with the factory settings of the car. Being completely codeless after many tens of thousands of miles of driving is rare in a typical N54 equipped BMW. The dealers know that. Be smart.

It is strongly recommended that you do not use the global function to delete everything, as that may cause problems from what I recall.

From what I recall, one can clear all faults globally rather than locally within each module. That is fine as long as you know what you're doing. Go to the commands portion of the BT scanner program to clear ALL fault codes. Be sure not to clear any other parameters, just the fault codes, as that can lead to issues with your car. One guy a while back posted that he cleared everything, including default parameters, and was running into a nightmare situation in getting his car back to normal. Best to locally check each module and clear codes that way...
