dry carbon does not necessarily mean it pre-preg. wit hthe resin and have to be frozed or cooked. dry carbon is a pross. called vacuum infusion of vacuum bagging

CF grill frame and Shark fin, will never buy them again-
personally i think wet CF its better then dry if they spend more time on it for Dry Carbon about 50% are bad when they come out the mold lol |

Strength is the same as fiberglass. Carbon fabric (that is not pre-preg or run through the autoclave) is just that... fabric basically. It's flexible and not strong at all, just like fiberglass fabric. I always chuckle when people get all amped up about their "carbon fiber" hoods, when half of the time it is no stronger or better fitting than fiberglass, and is about 70% fiberglass and resin. *Disclaimer* We do sell some wet-lay products such as grills and interior trims and such, but all of our aero and structural components (hoods, boots, etc) are all dry Glad someone bumped this! Very informative. Also, don't be confused... Just because something is vacuum bagged and run through an oven DOES NOT mean it is Pre-preg or "dry" carbon fiber. Here is an example of how wet lay is done with vacuum bagging and an autoclave: Trying to find an example of pre-preg on video |

I think this post is misleading. Prepreg is a great material and amazing way of doing things. However with QUALITY resin's, vacuum bagging, and heat curing a "wet" lay up will be about as strong as prepreg. Now without some individual tests I'd almost say it's just as strong. I've seen amazing parts both manufactured both ways. And to say that CF is not stronger than fiberglass is crazy if you use the proper resin.
