Anyone Running Map 7 on BMS PBX? (No throttle remap, performance map on)

Is anyone running the BMS Powerbox on Map 7, with Throttle remapping disabled and performance tuning on?

I'm not too keen on a more sensitive throttle as I prefer a finer control over the throttle.

Does the performance tuning make a major difference? Or can the bulk of the improvement be attributed to the throttle remapping?

Thanks.

No one got the Powerbox just for the power gains? Perhaps the throttle re-mapping is the pre-dominant feature of the Powerbox.

yeah, I tried it for a few hours, I couldn't really tell the difference between stock and map 7.

Thanks KSM. You are the first user who compared stock vs. Map 7 and shared about it.

If it made as much difference as turning off the air conditioner, or driving with two less passengers, I would consider it.

I haven't dyno'd it but there is a noticeable pull in the higher end which has to be the effect of hp/tq gain rather than just throttle mapping. But I haven't tried map 7 yet

I've tried it for a bit. I can definitely tell the difference between map 0 (stock) and map 7. The car seems to be a bit more "peaky" than stock. But, its when adding the throttle remap to it with map 3 that it becomes very noticeable and makes the car very fun to drive.

Agreed, it's definately a "peaky" feeling with map 7, and addidng throttle mapping really makes a "noticeable" difference. This thing is so much fun, i must admit, but I really think it would really be in BMSs best interest to have some definate dyno numbers for the 330 and with different maps, but then again, what do i know?

These Euro 2.5L 325's with Powerboxes have shown increases of more than 23 HP and 30Nm torque on a dyno.

I'm wondering why there's such a wide discrepancy between these and the US dyno charts.

My 325 came in at 116Kw stock and 121kw (Map 3 of course) after Powerbox install today. So I suspect the other dyno graph you refer (just over 100Kw stock) to might not have been telling the real truth in terms of what the stock car is capable but the post install dyno seems to be spot on.

Such a big gain is very questionable (thus your post) and even BMS don't claim such gains.

Drivability is far better than what the figures suggest but give the adaptive tranny some time to learn, I expect even better results.

Sorry to be off topic, but I am a Map 3 only. I wish to use the Powerbox to its best capability.

BHP is not wheel HP like BMS claims. I have asked Terry about it and 8-10hp to the wheels is what is typical. They saw what is typical HP gains to the wheels if you convert the power figures they use to HP maybe a little more. COuld have to do with fuel octane or just the dyno itself.
