I know, I know, I know this is really late. In my defense this my busy time of year at work. Again I apologize. If turn out is extremely low then I may have to cancel. This is only because the restaurant is opening just for us four hours early. As long as we have at least 40 we will be ok.

Winter Tour
December 12, 2009
This year, we will begin the tour from Mom’s Apple Pie in Occoquan, VA. We will depart Mom’s at 8am and continue to Wilson Farms Meat Company in Catlett, VA. From there, we will dine for lunch at Bavarian Chef in Madison, VA and wine tasting at Sweely Estates Winery and Prince Michel Winery.

Mom’s Apple Pie has been reviewed in national magazines, featured on local news and the Food Network. Besides pies, they specialize in cookies, breads and cake. There is also a general store for your perusal. The cut off date for ordering pies or any other baked goods is December 11. You can order your pies baked or unbaked. Remember what some of the roads we drive on can do to a cooked pie. When ordering, reference that you are with the BMW Club.
www.momsapplepieco.com

Wilson Farms Meat Co. has been a family run business for 55 years. They sell every part of the cow, lamb and pig. All meats are cut to order. This is a great opportunity to pick up meat for Christmas and New Year’s parties. Maya, the owner, is a joy to deal with and is quick witted. Don’t take her jabs seriously, she is only joking. A few weeks ago, I had a breakfast for the veterans at my work. I ordered 20 half inch thick rib eyes for $100. I can attest to their tenderness and deliciousness.

Wilson is a cash only business. No checks are accepted unless you are an established customer. It is highly recommended that you place your order in advance. The store front is quite small and it will keep things moving. The meat will be packaged in individually wrapped and then boxed tied with butcher’s string. It should be cold, but I would still bring a cooler with ice. The cut off date for ordering is December 11. PM me for order form or call them directly.

The Bavarian Chef has been operated continuously by the Thalwitz family since its opening in 1974. Its cuisine is distinctively German and all the food is prepared onsite using Thalwitz recipes. Its recipes are sought after but can only be discovered with the senses. When Eckhard and Bruni Thalwitz opened the Bavarian Chef in 1974, it quickly became a local favorite, renowned for its incredible portions of authentic German food and warm hospitality.

The restaurant usually opens at 4:30 on Saturdays, but the owner is willing to open early for our group. The menu for our group will be fixed with beef, chicken, pork and fish entree options, assorted sides, dessert and drinks (non-alcoholic) for $31/person including tax and gratuity. They give you so much food that you are sure to take home a doggie bag!
www.thebavarianchef.com

From lunch, we will head to Sweely Estate Winery about 15 minutes from the Bavarian Chef for wine tasting and Prince Michel Winery which is about 15 minutes from Sweely Estates Winery. The tastings at Sweely Estate Winery is $4 and are complimentary at Prince Michel Winery.

I just tried to order some pies, specifically the butter pecan apple crumb and chocolate pecan pie but the lady on the phone said she didnt know what pies would be available frozen and asked me to call back tomorrow and ask for a lady named Petra. Just a warning to those who will try to order last minute like myself.

I just called Petra and left a msg. for her to call me. I'm also calling the shop to find out what is going on. The whole reason for us ordering ahead is so we know our pies will be on hand.
I apologize for the issues you are having. On our next pie run I plan to stick with Catoctin Mtn Orchard. They seem to have it together on being flexible and customer friendly.

I did speak w/ Petra about the pecan pies and they cannot be ordered frozen unbaked. Just because they are in a liquid form being baking. I don't think those will be an issue when it comes to becoming pie omelets.

Some people contacted me directly through email. I did tell them to use the registration site. Some have and some have not. But we are over 40+ and 20+ cars.
