Hi Guys
I have a Australia spec 2004 E53 3.0d which was detuned to 150kw due to poor Aussie diesel quality. Im been trying to find out more information regarding my diesel engine but cant seem to find the info i want. The only thing i can find is on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M57 Does anyone know if there is any mechanical difference in my engine compare to the standard 160kw engine? Is it just the detuned ECU? Thx in advance

There should be no mechanical difference at all - the power output will be altered simply by a different map on the ECU to account for the poorer quality diesel.

Cool thx.
What about the current 170kw 3.0L diesel? Im guessing that it is the same mechanical setup ie same size turbo, intercooler etc as my 2004 diesel?

Different turbocharger setup, I'm sure.
