Top gear is entertainment. Those guys are actually quite douchey if you look at their appearances on other shows as such.

Hammond actually makes fun of other men for driving practical cars and when asked what he drives, he says an "elderly 911 turbo... yes, it's a proper driver's car."

And everyone else in the room rolls their eyes.

And ever notice how Clarkson makes such a big deal about him not being vain and on his Ross interview he makes it a point to say "oh I just came over from taping the show and am wearing the exact same thing."

Christ, nobody fucking cares, they really are 14 years old.

Their opinion on cars has too much weight because of their well produced show. They talk the talk but aren't quite as objective and experienced as many auto journalists out there.
