Lemon Leather cleaning and protecting!

Sigh.

The stupid lemon leather appears to be taking on the colours of everything else that touches it...

Namely, blue denim even though I haven't worn any new jeans in there since I bought it!!

Anyway, can anyone reccomend a product and process to firstly, clean in, and secondly, protect it in the future?

+1 The Gliptone range is excellent, leaves a matt finish like new and even smells of new leather.

Thanks gents, they look quite cost effective!

Does the conditioner help to avoid further muck then?

Might stick both on my Christmas list!!! Does that make me farking tight?

The conditioner helps to stop the leather from drying out, keeping it supple. There's not much you can do to prevent colour transfer - constant cleaning and don't wear denim!

In My opinion, you're unlikely to find a better product than the protector from http://www.LTTsolutions.net

I find it lasts much longer than gliptone, isnt so greasy and is likely to prevent the dye transfer to some degree. Did on some cream Recaro's I had in an audi.

Also well regarded on Detailing world. That company sponsors the interior forum

Might do that next time then!

Already ordered intense cleaner, conditioner, leather brush and cloth to wipe it down with plus had some good advice of the lady on the phone.

For the record, the total was just over a third of the price of the Auto kit on LLT.

Which doesn't neccesarily mean its expensive, and maybe you do get what you pay for...

I might just go a little write up and some pics if the weather is fine, although I wouldn't count on it

When I had lemon leather I used to wipe it with a damp cloth weekly and gliptone it every other month

the damp cloth lifted blue dye off pretty well

Can I be old fashioned? I've got coral red leather which whilst not as bad as lemon for stains ain't good - sounds the same taking on the denim colour after a while.

Autoglym leather cleaner takes off all the dark colouration and the cream to noursih it makes it as smooth as the proverbial ass - not shiny either - better than my old e46 where the previous bright spark appeared to have used boot polish on the black leather :-( not good.

You're all missing a trick.

Baby wipes!!!

Gently lifts all muck and grime from the leather in a wipe or two and does so with the softness required to keep a babys bum soft.

Wipe dry with a clean dry cloth and it dries a beautiful soft matt finish with no residue.

Only £1 for 80 too! Give em a go

'Simple' unfragranced are best IMO...

Another

for Gliptone. Have been using it on my lemon leather for the past year and it keeps it in great condition. I work on a construction site and from time to time dirt gets on to the seats, quick clean with gliptone, condition and its back as good as new.

Well I did the front seats today.

Basically wiped down with a warm, very slightly damp cloth first, then brushed in some cleaner which seemed to lift the blue dye quite easily. Passenger and drivers bolster were obviously worst and needed a slightly more rigorous approach though I was careful not to scuff etc.

I gave the whole thing another wipe down with a very mildly damp cloth again and kept rotating which seat I was working on etc to give them chance to dry slightly where needed or lift dirt etc.

After that I massaged the conditioner in with my hands... There is something a bit weird about lubing up, grasping a side bolster and rubbing vigorously and sensually up and down. In my case, I couldn't get the image of giving a white rhino a handjob, you know, to help them breed...?

In any case it's done and drying nicely. It looks as good or better than when I first got it, and the smell is nice so I am well impressed!

Did you end up getting the Gliptone products? For the first few months (summer) my lemon interior was flawless, but recently with damp jeans after a downpour or two, I've noticed blue marks appearing on the seats, so I'm planning to get whatever you bought.... out of curiosity, where did you order them from?
