bmw i-drive retrofit?

hi guys ,i was just woundering , i got a bmw e92 coupe but it dosnt have i drive , would it be possible to get it fitted by bmw ? if so does anyone have a rough estimate on how much i wuld be expected to pay?

You can retrofit, but I don't know pricing, I'm afraid.

did u mean retrofit my self? or retrofit by bmw? , also do u knw if ther is a diy page for it?

I think it'll be pretty expensive, new dash piece, then monitor and stuff. If BMW does it i think at least 4k total assuming it's 2 k for parts and 2k for labor. I dunno about a DIY, but do a search on "back up cam" or "night vision" there was a guy that did this add-on for ppl with i-drive, im sure he knows what parts and how much you should be expecting..I might be wrong but i think his name is like alex or something

Someone did a retrofit of the older iDrive (2006-2008). It is in the iDrive section.

It's a pain in the ass and will cost you a fortune.

As far as I know, nobody has done a 2009+ IDrive retrofit.

ok thanks guys looks like ill have to wait till im 21 so i can get insured on a 330i or somthing ! :-(

It wasn't a pain in the ass...actually quite fun (since everyone said it couldn't be done). After all of the R&D and monkeying around, it took a day to do it all and about $1500 after I sold the old dash and old parts...still cheaper than the option. I suppose it would be a fortune if you didn't do your own work. Don't count on any dealer ever doing this unless the factory comes out with a retrofit.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other option. The 2nd-gen i-drive hasn't been done yet by anyone on this forum, but we're working on it. Again, I wouldn't recommend it unless you can't sell the car and get one equipped.
