Is the 909/951 really all that bad?

Everyone keeps telling that these areas are really bad when it comes to meth labs. and all other types of crimes,I know rancho is pretty nice but what about other areas in the inland empire?

depend which 909 you are talking about. 909 also covers Diamond Bar and some Walnut. Those cities are for middle upper class and houses within those cities are always big and nice.

drugs are everywhere in rancho.. there is a rich part of rancho, i think its called Alta Loma or something..

pretty much I wouldn't live in Rancho, or anything east of Ontario.. Fontana is a real shithole.

you can read up more on that area at http://www.dailybulletin.com/

they have crime reports, etc.. fun to read.

I'm in the 951, but seriously south, and where it's not cheap. So far, no drive-bys or drug deals.

I lived in Temecula/Murrieta for 6 years. Can't say I encoutered any issues, but I lived in a nice area. You get what you pay for when it comes to housing areas.

From Corona (951) here...This place has been constantly been developing for the past 10-15 years...There's A LOT of new housing and it keeps expanding south where they have some huge houses...I like that it's not too far from OC (except for the damn 91 traffic!!!)

I'm currently in med school in the 909 and it seems older and more run down (Pomona, Chino, Upland, etc)...But there's a lot of nice upper class areas though like Diamond Bar (upper-middle class Asian community....Snoop Dogg also has a house here) and Alta Loma...

My wife and I bought a brand new townhome in a new development in Chino. It's a really nice area, and there's a lot of newer shops going in.

i have family in law enforcement for corona PD and for san bernardino sheriff dept. The ones in corona complain less then the ones in san bernardino. Meth is a large problem all around the inland empire but you will 'see' more of it up north toward rialto/colton/fontana/parts of rancho/ontario/pomona etc. I also grew up in the 951 however it was a quite neighborhood in mira loma [Just northeast of North Corona (Norco)] So its really location dependant.

Bottom line... there are bad parts in every city or county, but there are decent places to live in the inland empire, so unless the people you take advice from live in the areas they talk about then don't be there neighbor lol

^^^^ What he said

The I.E. is the butt of a lot of jokes and a lot of them are well deserved, but there are good areas in almost every city in the 909/951. There are big benefits to living out there - close to the mountains, close to the desert, an hour closer to Vegas. But, I would rather take the beach proximity and more moderate temperatures of Orange County.

That being said, I was raised in the I.E., but got out and live in South OC for the past 5+ years

Maybe more meth labs in the IE than say OC but I only hear about them being out in places like Temecula. There are good/bad areas everywhere, you should be able to tell when you enter a sketchy part of town. Take a drive down Holt sometime if you don't know what bad looks like, though Pomona is considered to be LA rather than IE.
