Mini Ipod Kit in a BMW?

Ive tried a search of this, but couldn't find anything..... but I am always seeing Mini ipod interfaces on fleabay for the R56/R55 etc. Just wondered if anyone knows if this would work in a 3 series with i-drive.

I know the part numbers are different, but could that just be because of the different manual, and maybe a mini logo displaying on the ipod? (I don't mind if it shows a mini logo on the ipod as it will be in the glove box anyway)
