OEM Aerodynamic Kits Questions

My Car: 335i Coupe 2008

I've been searching and I haven't had any luck finding the anwsers I need. I even asked the parts department of BWM and they didn't give me a clear answer.

M Aerodynmic Kit
Aerodynmic Kit

BMW Accessories Website has two Aerodynmic Kits: M Aerodynmic Kit & Aerodynmic Kit, both of them are the same price and both of them look exactly the same on the website. The kit I want come the M-Sport Package, and you can preview it on the BMW Website.

What's the difference between the M Aero Kit and Aero Kit?
Can I buy the kit that comes with the M-Sport Package directly from BMW? If Not, Where?

you can get the M-Sport from Longtran, or Tischer

It's different than the M-Aero kit

I believe the aero kit consists of the front aero lip (fits over top of the standard bumper) and a complete new rear bumper, with a different type of diffusor.

The M-Sport kit consists of a different front and rear bumper (rear w/ diffusor) and also different rocker panels on the side. I already have the rear and rocker panels fitted to my car, and my front bumper arrives from Tischer today

The aero kit is quite a bit cheaper to paint and install, but IMHO the M-Sport is worth the extra.

I had the original OEM m-aero kit installed in 2008. Included at the time were the rear deck spoiler, rear aero bumper & front add-on spoiler.

Now, the M sport is available & is in essence the M-Tech kit with front & rear bumpers.

To purchase the OEM kit now only offers the rear deck spoiler & front spoiler. The rear bumper isn't included according to Tischer's website. It is available as a separate purchase though.

Yup, you can do the M-Sport kit which is a full front and rear bumper replacement or the Aero kit which is a front lip and different rear. I prefer the M-Sport look but it is more expensive.

That what I've seen in Europe where there would almost seem to be more M-Sports than standard cars, but in the US the M-Sport only became available as an option (or retrofit kit) early in 2009 so it is still somewhat unique. I have never seen one on the road in MN, but when I was back in Ireland for Xmas I must have seen at least 50!

Sorry to threadjack but I went to the auto body place today to get my rear bumper replaced. They told me I need a part number for the E90 Aero Rear Bumper Kit but it's not a number. Would anyone know the part number?

Here is the Tischer Link for it:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462

This part is a complete bumper right? I don't have to buy anything extra do I?

Well, it isn't the stock bumper replacement. Not sure what the price comparison is between this one & the stocker. This from Tischer's site shows the description & what's included:

** Upgrade your stock bumper with this OEM BMW M Aerodynamic Rear Bumper Kit. Kit includes rear bumper, left and right bumper guides, and diffusor. 335i kit includes dual exhaust diffusor and left and right covers. *Price does not include shipping(Flat-rate via UPS Freight will be $150.00 in the US and $300.00 to Canada).

Yeah, on this site, there seems to be a lot of cars with the Mpackage or the Mtech kit. But I actually don't see too many around where I live. And where I live, bmws are a dime a dozen.

LTBMW will be installing my Mtech kit (Front, sides, and rear bumper) in about 2 weeks. Can't wait! Just crossing my fingers that we'll achieve a very good OEM paint match.

I think the key to good paint match is to give the whole car to the shop. I thought I could give the bumpers to them ahead of time to get the paint done, but they convinced me to leave the whole car to ensure the best possible match. Mine looks factory with a 100% perfect match.

^^^^^^^^

Also, most reputable shops using PPG paints are able to have a product rep take a reading of the paint on the car for an exact paint match/mix without blending etc.

No extra charge & it ensures everything is an exact match.

I here ya. But, as it stands, LTBMW ordered mine and will have everything painted and ready for install when I arrive. Based on what LT said, his paint shop does a VERY good job. I guess I would be more concerned IF my car was older and sat out in the sun more. I have a '09 which usually sits in the garage. Hopefully, if he goes with OEM BSM paint, it should match well?!?!? Again, fingers crossed.

Your car always look fantastic BTW! Do you know if LTBMW used PPG paint on your side rockers? And how does the paint match....since you obviously had it painted without the paint shop seeing your car? Thanks.

Thanks!

The skirts I have installed now had been used & AW ........... had my local shop paint these. Previously though I have never had any problem with LT & paint match.
