At least he gave iDrive a go, and didn't dismiss it out of hand - the first review I have read where they say they like the iDrive!!

Strange review. He's effusively positive about many core aspects of the car, but seems to be trying very hard to be unenthusiastic. I don't agree that you never get to hear the best of the 335's engine unless you are caning it. That lovely, expensive sounding baritone exhaust burble is with you all the time up to about 4500rpm (even at light throttle openings) until it's replaced with the usual and equally wonderful BMW straight six scream. It's the one characteristic I wasn't really expecting in this otherwise super refined car, and I never tire of it!
Good to see some balanced reporting on the RFT's at last though. And he's right about the bump steer too, unfortunately. |

Maybe he didn't hear the engine because his daily driver is a Lada Niki
![]() I seriously didn't read him as a car person - what car person couldn't hear that lovely engine sound??

I have had my 335i with 19" wheels for over 2 months now (Saphire Black and Black Leather...I love it.
The ride is a little harsh sometimes but more an indictment of our roads than anyhing. I have it pretty much optioned up (Sat/Nav, Heated Seats, Comfort Access and upgraded stereo) and the I Drive is Ok once you get used to it, very handy with a BB on Blue tooth. I really think you need to drive for a while to appreciatethe car. More than 500Km's |

Yes it does make it confusing that they dropped the Ci nomenclature.
And right about loving it the more you drive it. I have realised with this car the quirks are part of what makes it great - it makes the car more human, and they are really minor in the scheme of things, and all it takes is one more fast corner and all is forgotten and forgiven...

Just drove to QLD and back over the holidays. Also bought a car bra for it...looks OK as it is black but really protected the front end. I was hesitanmt when I heard about going Turbo...but you really would not know at all, so smoooth and some real go. My sugestion is still manual much more fun than the auto (Even with paddle shift) |

oh great you have 19inch rims, i am considering ordering 19 inch rims as well when i order my coupe. Just wondering how the ride was with the 19inch rims? im worried because alot of ppl have been complaining about the ride quality with the standard 18inch rims.

That said, in this type of car I prefure the setup like that. It's not an M and isn't designed as such, so therefore I reckon it functions perfectly. I was mightly impressed with the 335, it went quite well and has a great feel to it build quality wise. Definantly up on par with the Merc's now. I was resolved never to buy another BMW again after my M, but driving the 335 has swung me back towards a new 3. (Hence joining the forum to get all the info from people in the know). For $120 odd k it's a lot of car for the money. Leaps and bounds above the E46 Coupe's and even the ride quality with the run flats is superior to that of the E46's. Thinking of MB on black with sunroof, 19's, heated seats and keyless go. What's the no BS delivery time on these? The guy at the dealership reckoned on delivery in May or June. If that's the case, a demonstrator maybe the way to go. And what does everyone think is a fair price on them? Last edited by 1q2w3e4r; 01-23-2007 at 07:06 PM.. |

I have the 19' rims and have done just under 4000k's in the car since november. The ride is firm and it's great when you put the boot in- the car just sticks on corners with no tyre squeal. Daily driving can be a bit jarring at times (F'ing crap australian roads + RFT sidewalls) and scuttles and jumps over linear bumps (bridge expansion joints, tram tracks etc). But did I mention that they look awesome (I'll try and get some pics in the next few days- I'm pretty busy)? Don't forget to factor in the replacement price of 19' RFTs- massive. I'm thinking of getting a mobility kit and non RFT's when they wear out. Cheaper, softer ride without handling/ cornering compromise and more tyre choices. Good luck with your order.
