M3 Tyres

Need help with tyres, just had a brake fluid change and it appears as though my current tyres are down to 3mm all round!

I've decided to change from the current Michelin PS Cup+ tyres and was looking at PS2's but everywhere I've rung tells me that they are on back order with Michelin and won't be in for months!!!!

Looks like the only option I have is Continental Contact 2 or 3. I've done some searching and found that the Conti 3's are now OE fit for the M3 (?) but I don't know anything about them, anyone got any thoughts/comments?

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

I have Conti 3's all round on my E46 M3. I running OEM CSL wheels, so have them in 235 and 265 sizes. People have slagged Continentals of in the past for being crap, but I have to say that the CSC3's are just as good as the PS2's on my other set of wheels. I'm happy with them.

Have you got the 19"s or the 18"s? If you have the 18"s you might be in luck as I have a brand new set of PS2's off a delivery mileage vehicle for sale.. But I fear it's the 19"s I see in your photo!

why don't you take the Pirelli Pzero (without rosso / nero) They are currently the best tire around, and far better then the PS2 (many tire test)

cheers

I can honestly say I have had both tyres, and I feel thesedays the Conti's just have the edge in the wet, particularly for wide wheels. The PS2's feel just a bit harder, but hence they last longer.

It does seem that BMW are doing Conti's as factory issue now, on the M3, M5 and my 535d MSport has specific BMW Conti's. At the end of the day it is down to personal preference, they are both great tyres.

P.S. I think Conti's came out a little higher in an EVO mag test a while ago.

Happy Driving

Thanks for the replies, sorry for not replying sooner my pc died over the weekend!

I'll see if there are any pirelli's around but I reckon the only choice will be Conti's but I am gathering more and more positive feedback so won't be the step back that I feared they may be!

Cheers muchly
