BOV/ Diverter Valve question!!

i dont know if this guy knew what he was talken about but.. Is the HKS Titek BOV bad for the car(BOV in general)? (DCI and BOV are the only mods i got so far..) So if true.. would after market DV's be better?

I agree with Nando ^^^

1. BOV shoots used pressurized air into the atmosphere

2. DV's dump the pressurized air back into the engine

the way i looked at it was , Bmw uses diverter valves stock so why not make it better.the point is no your not hurting your car.

Not at all. 100% personal preference. The car does not have a MAF

Not trying to start a flame war, but I could see where some would like a BOV if they like that sort of sound, but what are the performance gains going with either a BOV or a DV. If a DV doesn't have any asthetic attributes such as sound, then what is the perpose in making the stock setup better?

It's my experience that the aftermarket DVs along with an aftermarket chargepipe (to replace the oem flex piping) causes the boost to hold strong. Boost stays consistent & is very noticeable in the performance.

Not sure if you would notice as much without changing out the oem charge pipe.

I lost power with forge DV's because I had it on my stock charge pipe. Definitely upgrade the charge pipe to avoid any sealing problems.

What would be a good charge pipe to go along with the Forge DVs?

Thanks guys for the info. I'm interested in anything that is going to increase the output of the car. Is there any data/graphs on the stock charge pipe vs an aftermarket one. Either dyno or boost levels? I just haven't seen anything concreate on it yet. I've got catless DP's, DCI, and FMIC on it's way and if it's worth going to a charge pipe then I'm going to consider it.

Thanks
-Will

The fact that the stock pipe expands, thereby decreasing boost, should be enough reason to go with aftermarket.

FWIW, I currently am using a RR pipe. The difference between the chargepipe function of oem & aftermarket is night & day.

Its all personal preference man, not a power adder mod. They are made to hold boost and release them better. But a big +1 on the chargepipe. The stock cp has the accordian tube that flexes under boost and can cause turbulance. YOu can either upgrade the weak factory elbow alone for a quick fix or upgrade the whole pipe.
