Talking I have had SSTT on my e90 for 4 months WTF

2 days ago, I took my 335 to dealer for cold start shaking problem, turned out to be HPFP failure, got it replaced under warranty.
my SA told me there was a aftermarket turbo tuner chip (euro bahn) installed behind the intake air box, that could be the cause of HPFP failure and potentially void my warranty on this particular issue, but this was not 100% proven, so they just replaced it.
I was like
I just bought my e90 4 month back at 26000km as certified pre-owned, I was assuming everything would be stock. recently installed Vanguard exhaust, been researching and looking for software tune ever since. I was only concerned that dealer might blame on exhaust before I drop my car in.
now previous owner has left me some sweet gift I can skip to suspension mod next.

btw, this is the second HPFP replaced on my 335, first one was replaced at 24000km, this time was at 33000km.
does split second turbo tunner chip really cause HPFP to fail?
my SA was telling me BMW has redesigned HPFP and it should not fail again, has anyone had your HPFP replaced recently heard about this new design rumor?

I just had my HPFP replaced like a week ago.

My cousin who is a tech at BMW told me the same thing about the latest redesign not failing yet..

They did redesign the pump. Most people with recent HPFP changes didn't get the new pump though. Check your receipt for the part #.

I don't think you can argue that an SSTT will dramatically increase the likelihood of HPFP failure seeing as completely stock cars fail randomly.

I would take it off from now on before going to the dealer. So you didn't realize when you bought the car that it's running about 40hp over stock?

If he had never driven it without the SSTT I can't see how he would know.

My 2010 just arrived Monday. I wonder if it was built with the new HPFP?

I would remove the SSTT and get yourself a Procede V3 or was it V4 now?

thanks for the advice, I will take it off from now on if I ever need to drop it off for service, just in case...

no, I did not notice the extra power when I test drove it, as it was the first 335 I had driven. but I was really amazed by the way it was pulling and I bought it right away. this must be the extra horse power effect

Sometimes you get so used to the SSTT it just feels like a stock car, except you notice that power kinda drops off a bit at higher RPM's and 1/2 throttle feels about as fast as full throttle. Just take it off and drive your car and you will realize the difference in a heartbeat. Add an FMIC and you will run better at higher RPM's as well (atleast mine did with AMS FMIC).
