Post winter detailing tips?

Hi all, I have a space grey car and right now thanks to the weather and snow etc my car is filthy. Hasnt been washed in months and I cant wait for everything to clear up and the nicer days to come. Once everything clears up im hoping to do a real nice detail on the car but not sure which way to do it or what products I should use, especially for this color. I've been using turtle wax shampoo, I have a bunch of microfiber cloths that I take proper care of and a drying towel. I know the detail includes clay and waxing but i've never gotten into those and am not sure what I should do and whats the best to use and how. Thanks for your input.

That's quite a loaded question. You might want to start by reading through DI's fantastic detailing guide: http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide/

We can answer any specific questions you have after reading that and learning a bit more about the process of a full detail.

Thanks for the link, I know the question was pretty vague. I just wasnt sure what products are the best (I know everyone is different) and what would be recommended for me color. I've seen people post up different steps that they take, I just still need to get the right equipment but I will read up on that.

Detailed Image will guide you as to product choice.

Detailer's all have different preferences, which comes about by simple trial and error, once they find something that works (for them) they'll recommend it

-remove wheels and thoroughly clean all suspension/fenderwells and wheels, remount wheels
-wash car twice with CG wash and gloss or even a healthy application of DAWN dish soap
-clay the car
-at least one round of polishing with a machine, preferrably two
-IPA wipedown
-apply sealant wax
follow that up with another sealant wax next day or carnuba. Then wash weekly, wax every 3 months with a sealant, polish every 6 months, full detail every year!

Thats what I would do in your situation!

Try some Swiss Wax products.

Super easy to use a bit pricey but you will not be dissapointed.
