LOGIC 7 - TALK ME IN OR OUT
The E91 is going to be drop dead in terms of options late tomorrow. The only feature I'm having reservations on is the stereo system. I had a 2003 E39 with the standard system and it was lousy. Is the standard E90 system better than the E39 system. I hate to piss away the money. If it's acceptable I'll deal. The E39 system was not acceptable. I'm a family man and not looking to vibrate my license plate frame. I'm just looking for decent sound and want opinions before pulling the trigger. Thanks again.

I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the stock radio system on E90 but the Logic7 sounds great imho. It's a must if you want a decent sound system..

I bought the L7 system and i find it to be great. I'm a family man too and I just adjust the volume to suit. Main point is great sound at virtually ant volume.
See if you can hear it for yourself. If you are asking for my recommendation, then YES. But I do like great sounding music, so the L7 was a mandatory option for me and my requirements. All the best with whatever you choose.

The standard system is not too bad, but if you enjoy music, then you should cough up the $ now to get the L7 system. It would be better than going aftermarket later to upgrade the speakers and amp, which would cost more and involve ripping up the interior panels etc.
Of course, if you are really, really into music/bass etc, then save the $ for major upgrades aftermarket. |

The standard 10 speaker setup is light years ahead of my e46's standard system.
I am very happy with mine. Not getting L7 also helps in the justification of the cost savings of a 325i. I say to save your money, unless you are an audiophile. If you aren't sure if you are an audiophile, then you are definitely not one. And if you were one, you would know better than to speculate on this option. I am sure the stock system would be fine for you.

I don't consider myself a full-blown audiophile, however I am a serious audio enthusiast and to me buying an expensive car stereo is not the way to audio zen. The L7 system is great, however a true audiophile only requires two channels, left-right stereo. That being said, the 7-channel, 13 speaker w/ DSP clearly colors the sound. Another argument against bringing audiophile technology into the car is that cabin acoustics inside an auto are poor, not to mention all the noise that happens outside the car.
Audi, Lexus, et al...keep the Mark Levinson, B&O, in the den, where it belongs. Getting B&O in your Audi is equivilent to getting a Coach edition Lexus or an Eddie Bauer Ford -- co-branding sells.

Check out Ledzep's E91 photos. From my test of the E90 standard 10 speaker system, it is a definite improvement over the old 8 speaker system in the E46. If I go the 325 route I will forego the L7. But it makes the 330i more tempting... I am really curious to see what BMW will do with the E91 in NA. I will be so torn if they come out with the 335i in the E90 only.
