Forge DVs...HELP!!!

So i had some time on a Friday night, for a change. Decided to install my Forge DVs that i got last week. Install wasnt all that bad...getting the rear gray ring off was the worst part. After install, i took the car for spin. First impression...no difference in sound at all (keep in mind i have BMS DCI). About 2 miles later...it seemed like the engine was starting to shut down. Wasnt responding to my pedal when i pushed down on it. And next thing you know...GONG...CHECK ENGINE LIGHT! Something along the lines of "Vehicle not receiving enough output. You may continue to drive vehicle, but please visit BMW dealership." GREAT! So i drove home slowly and put the stocks back on. Drove it around with the stock DVs, no check engine light and ran just fine. I'm guessing there was some type of boost leak, but i made sure i tightened everything up securely and and followed the exact directions. What do you guys think?

Khaled

Most possibly a boost leak ....make sure you have sealed the DVs tight before placing them onto the chargepipe's slot.

You should also check that the pistons into the DVs can move freely up-and-down.

Did you make sure you turn the gray clip after you installed the dvs to secure it?

Yes...i checked to make sure i did every step when i was finished. Looked for loose hoses and such. It was very weird how it happened.
Also, Is there supposed to be no change in sound?

I've read they already come with springs installed I think? You didn't install other springs without taking out springs first did u?

Also are the "Forge" logos on each DV facing eachother?

Try re-installing them keeping in mind some of the helpful hints here, and post picstures of the finished product so we can look if you have done it correctly visually.

i had the EXACT same problem last night... so i am rolling with stocks...

i dont know what it is... going to do some more reading on the forge install... something wasnt working...

we checked the silicone hoses, no leaks, DV were facing each other, and also they were sealed... (first time not... but we fixed that and pistons move freely... we checked with a pen and held the niple closed and saw it release afterwards..)

i bought them brand new from rockstarrr

Did you guys install any springs prior to installing them and if so did you pull out the springs that were pre installed with the Forge DVs. If not, then you installed the springs the wrong way ( I nearly installed 2 sets of springs).

Yes definitely the right position. Everything was definitely tightened and secure. It's kind of making me not want to re-install them. And is there not supposed to be a difference in sound? That as definitely a huge turnoff, considering it sounded the same as stock.

definitely a difference in sound... sounds like a boost leak or springs/dv's installed incorrectly.

Quick question: How freely should the pistons move on the Forge DVs?

I have a Stett charge pipe with the "generic" (non N54-specific) type DVs and will have them installed in a couple of months. However I want to make sure there won't run be problems.

So I checked by unscrewing the top part, and then I can move the pistons using quite a bit of force. But they're not moving freely at all by themselves.

Does that sound normal?

make sure that you have ONE set of springs inside the diverter valves.. they already come with a set installed behind the pistons... make sure you didn't add another set on top of them (which is what i did when i first installed them )...

Hehe, yes the green springs are the only ones in there. With the top cap tightened, I can't move the piston a single bit. Only when I remove the cap, I can slowly move the piston. Normal?

Garage List
Make sure the tops are facing each other, not facing upward. The end going into the charge pipe has a beveled edge/lip.

Yes that's exactly how i had them installed. I have a feeling it has to do with the springs. How do i go about checking if they're installed correctly?

Unscrew the caps and see if they're in there.

That is not normal. You should be able to to move the piston pretty easily when the valve is assembled.

Email me at service@forgemotorsport.com and we will get you sorted.

If he has the new style valves there isn't a cap on the valve rather the base is removable. You can see what I mean here:
http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/FMDVMAZ3S.pdf

This valve is slightly different, the flange is installed where the port that slots into the boost hose on your valves is located. Internals are the same.
