JB tune with ethanol gas?
Hi guys,
I am thinking about getting JB+ or maybe JB3. However, in my area only 94 gas is with 10% ethanol, otherwise, I have to go with 91. I heard ethanol gas is really bad for our HPFP... Anyone running JB tunes with ethanol gas?? |

I think all of our gas in Atlanta has atleast 10% ethanol although I dont know if I am the best example because I just had my HPFP replaced today lol

There was speculation that the ethanol content in north america compared to Europe was partially the cause of failure on the HPFP.
However, in regards to the JB and ehtanol, it is no difference to that. |

All gasoline in South Florida or at least 99% of gas has 10% ethanol for all octanes, I run JB+ with no problems, my car has actually had 3 HPFPs, all before the JB+, which I wouldnt think affects the HPFP one way or another anyways. Because of the ethanol in most gasolines nowadays, I would recommend using Injector Cleaners like STP, lucas fuel injector treatment (which Ive always used, but make sure you get the one with the nozzle), or BMW injector cleaner and use every 5k-8k miles or so.

Well ethanol does have a bad side effect of reduced performance from everything I have read on it. It is not going to cause any weird issue with the JB tunes that I am aware of or the Terry has mentioned.

Well you can run 75% with 91 wuth the bypass but I would invest in a BT tool just in case you get a code. The 94 with 10-15% ethanol does suck but it may be better than the 91. usually I and BMS never suggest anyone run more than 50% on 91 unless you have the BT tool.

I was going to do that if I bought an evo but I decided to go meth injection instead. its nice cause you dont have to search for gas stations with e85 and you still get the octane benefits.
