How about a new sticky up top?

Can we put this to bed already...with perhaps a sticky on this section?

Something to the effect of:

If you are more concerned about warranty than performance:
Do not mod your 335, or at least use a different company that gives factory equiv warranty(Dinan or something), but be aware that those companies will probably not offer as much HP gains as the Xede.

If you are more concerned about performance than warranty:
Get together with Shiv and get some serious gains for small amounts of coin. Understand that Shiv is not going to do anything to intentionally hurt your car, it's not in his best interest. But they are also a small company and cannot bear the costs associated with extending the factory warranty, and if they did the Xede would need to cost WAY more than it does.

These constant he-said-she-said's are getting crazy. We keep getting the same posts just with different complaints or concerns, and Shiv has been nice enough to answer them as they come, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth I think.

This is not an endorsement for the Xede, I actually sway to the other side, but that doesn't make it OK for these ongoing posts about how BMW says the mods will void your warranty or kill your engine, etc.

it's common sense... people that don't know if you MOD your engine, you have a great shot of losing your warranty, ESPECIALLY if something goes wrong.

its been that way since inception and i dont see why BMW should be any different.

fact is most people in the BMW scene are not used to modding and what it entails.

i agree with the stick... and also a better stick about the xede

It seems to me that Shiv's tuning has only brought up the boost 2 PSI. The turbos should be able to handle it. I find it hard to believe that 2 PSI more boost on an engine that was designed FOR boost is really going to have any problems.

I am an ex-S54 owner, and even that engine (which runs a high compression ratio and is not designed for boost) took 9.5 PSI like a champ with the AA supercharger.

Also due to the M-M warranty law, BMW would have to prove that the modifications you did to the engine actually caused the failure. Serious engine failure is gonna be hard to pin on +2 PSI...

I'm not disagreeing with you Redstar, but the point of this thread is not whether it voids your warranty or not, that has been discussed in dozens of threads, the point is to stop everyone from creating threads regarding it. Please post your opinions on the warranty and modding on someone else's thread, this thread is for creating a sticky to stop persistent bickering about warranty.
