My performance Center Delivery experience
I recently ordered a 2007 BMW 328i and opted for the Performance Center Delivery. This is a free option for ordered cars where you pick up your new car at the BMW Performance Center in Spartensburg, SC. As part of the package, they cover your room cost & dinner and then transport you to the center the next day. You then get to flog a car similar to yours on the track with a professional driver, visit the museum and have lunch with the staff.
http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexper...ivery First, I picked up my car at the center. They can deliver 3 cars at a time. Mine was in the main lobby pictured above... ...and the two other getting delivered were in the side displays (a Z4 Coupe & M6 vert) It's pretty sweet getting a car with only 1.3 miles After taking delivery of my car, I checked out the museum. The press launch of the new X5 was going on at the same time, so I got to see a bunch of them. Next it was time for some track work. On the way to the track, I noticed all sorts of sweet cars. Here'a bunch of M5/6's getting delivered... ...and a gaggle of M Coupes: The track was a good time. Donnie Isley was our instructor & he was awesome! We did some open course work, braking and a session on the wet skid pad. They didn't have any 328i's yet, so I was in a 330i. At one point, Donnie had me gun it in reverse and from the passenger seat he was able to use the parking brake & steering wheel to execute a perfect 180! :rocks: Last was the highlight of the trip for me - a hot lap with the pro driver in an M5! That was by far the most fun I've ever had in a car EVER! The M5 was so incredibly powerful and Donnie pulled out all sorts of sweet moves from 360's to drifting to serious corner carving. Afterward, I loaded up the family for the 500 mile drive home. Here's my first passenger :P And as soon as I got home, I ditched the runflats for some nice lightweight wheels & proper tires (which shaved 15-20lbs per corner!!!) The trip was a blast and the car's been great so far

manxs,
We had some friends in the area, so we spent most of our time on the trip down there with them. Since we had a our infant son with us, we took a fairly direct route home on mostly highways. I didn't stay at the Biltmore, but now I regret it. The pro driver led a caravan of people who had their cars delivered that day up which would have been a blast in and of itself. EHDEN, I just picked up a green slime kit which includes tire sealant & a compressor. In nearly 20 years of driving I've only had one flat, so the performance and cost savings (runflats are way overpriced imho) are worth the risk to me.

I wanted to stay at the Biltmore Estates, but they were completely booked during the time I was down there. Its supposed to be a very nice drive there. You should get some info on this in your pre-PCD package and they offer a discounted rate for BMW. If anyone did stay there, post some pics.
