newbie questions please help

hi, i just bought a Procede V3 rev1 off pnp off one of the member here.
and i installed it last night, in a 20F weather. ? no, freezing cold.

here is something i dont get. i have seen numerous difference version here and there and wondering if i can upgrade mine to the newest. how can i tell which map i am running on and how do i switch maps? i have a remote with on/off button on it.

trust me, i used the search button and none of them seems helpful. I kind of regret i bought procede because they dont offer installation guide and the video on youtube is ridiculously vague. especially about which harness go which slot, i endup reinstall them because my harness have the different wire color than the one on youtube. however, i noticed some power difference though.

anyways, any help is appreciated.

The YouTube video was very easy to follow for me and all the color coding was right. I have a 08 coupe so I don't think there is another harness colors out there.

The map switching will depend on which firmware you have. Do you know which maps you installed or were on the unit when you bought it? Chances are that you have maps that do switch with the remote and you can just start the car and see the service engine flash 1 time, 2 times or 1long time and that corresponds to the map, but you would need to know what maps are installed and make sure they are appropriate for your mods. You can upgrade free to the newest firmware and maps on the procede web site. V4 are the new ones and they are a big improvement!!!

thanks for the input. but how exactly can i switch map on my remote? what does those on/off button mean?

i would assume firmware 145 is the latest and 11-2 6mt is the latest map?

if you are running those maps (11-2, 145 firmware) you can change the maps with the laptop or use the DTC button on the dash. The key Fob is not active for those maps. older maps i belive are still active with the key fob.

^^ He has Rev.I, DTC map switch is NOT available for that revision.......

In order to activate the key fob remote map switch option, in the user adjustable setting, you have to enter the value of '1' in the 'future use 1' section. I believe default is set at '0' which disables the remote map switch. I'm running Rev.I FWIW, so I'm pretty sure about what I just said.....

One way to verify that the remote map switch is actually switching maps, hook the laptop to your Procede via USB cable, go online with the car on, set up the channels so it shows 'map selection' and that should tell you what map you're currently on.

Let me know if there's any more questions.

oh yea, make sure you hit the 'apply' button in the user adjustable setting so the changes can be saved/applied.

thanks everyone for the inputs. finally i got a chance to play around with my car this weekend because its still freezing like hell here up north.

anyways, i have uploaded the procede with 11-02 beta. firmware 145 and 6mt map.

now, about map switching, i am still confused. i was trying to set up my channel to see which map i am on, but i can't see map selection option in the channel set up. how do i do it? i am using PROcede User Software_v3_121

since i am very new to tuning the ecu, i will use whatever the generic map is out there and will not play around with custom, self tuned map, then map switching will not make any difference to me right? or there are two maps within that 6mt map? map1 is the lower performance one and map two is the higher performance one? and i simply press on for map2 and off for map1?

here is a screen shot i took, am i doing anything wrong? i have already changed the future use 1' section value to 1 in the user adjustable setting.

appreciate the help guys.

also, in this thread posted by shiv,

3) Please note that Map2 is a dedicated high output Race gas/Methanol map. With user Torque set to 90%, Ignition Correction set to 0% and Stg 3 hardware installed on the car, this map will run 120-125mph trap speeds. For obvious reasons, this map is detuned in terms of User Torque and Ignition Correction). More on this later. Please do not activate this map until we release the methanol documentation over the next few days. This is a serious map. Do not take it lightly.

does that mean i should never turn on map 2? where can i find update info about it?

click on 'current map selection', it is the 13th on down on the 'available (left)' side, move that channel over to the right side.

AFAIK, Shiv said specifically NOT to mess with map 2 on ANY stage. Map 2 is suppose to be dedicated to race gas/meth, and there's more to it than just what you see on the user torque setting values.

So my advise is just stick with map 1 and play with that as much as you want, and leave map 2 alone.

I must have been blind to miss that option 13. i am sorry to act like an idiot, which is what i feel right now.

if i shouldn't mess with map2, then i don't have use of the switch right? since map1 is the default map. i just turn on the car and drive?

yep your right...you got it. default is map1 since u loaded the new firmware and maps so you dont need to change any of the settings. btw by default the map-switching function is turned off...

"5) In the User Adjustable menu, Future User 1 enables/disables the remote control mapswitching feature. "0" disables this feature. "1" enables it. Again, there is no reason to enable this feature with these beta maps."

You should be good to go now...just wait for some sun.

IDK, this seems to imply (actually state directly) that there will be. Maybe just not the focus right now with all the new stuff coming out.
