KDS Alignment

I struck a pot hole at the weekend...I have a wrecked tyre...and when I'm driving in a straight line the steering wheel isnt in the middle its slightly turned right!...do I need a KDS alignment?? I was quoted €170 does that sound right?

Chances are that you only need to reset the front tracking. Ensure it's adjusted only on the trackrod on the side that caught the impact, then your steering wheel should miraculously come straight. After that's done, give a few hard accels. on a staight flat road, and if the car steers dead ahead, chances are you're clear. Keep an eye on tyre wear patterns for a while afterwards, until you regain confidence that the geometry is straight.

In short, yes you do need the alignment checked. I did similar last year, wrecked the tyre but not the wheel strangely and it through the back axle out of alignment. You can take a chance and wait for tyre wear but it aint worth it as it is more than likely out for that kind of impact.

Or try an Independant Hunter optical allignment (hunter make the KDS kit) - most places do it for about £50.
