159 vs. 161 Wheels - Opinions?

With the xi and ZSP you get the 159 wheels standard, with the option to get the 161 wheels for an additional $300. I keep going back and forth on which ones I like better cosmetically, but the other difference is that with the 161s the rear tires are a bit wider.

This I assume, would mean that you would not be able to rotate front/rear. I don't want to dredge up another debate about tire rotation, but I kind of like having the choice at least. Also looks like they take away the all seasons if you opt for the 161 wheel package.

Is anyone familiar enough with both to know if my assumptions are correct? Maybe different members who have each?

The sports package plus wheel option on the xi gives you the same setup as the sports package on a RWD - so yes, bigger tire (wider) in the back, sumer high performance tires and inability to rotate whatsoever.

If you up-opt for the 161s, you'd need winter shoes and nix on the rear-front rotation plan. FWIW, I love the 159s, they have a classy and elegant design and suits the E90/91 well imho.

I am upgrading to the 161 from 156s (16") and I think the 161 look nice on E90s. Their flares make the wheel look larger. Also, the larger rear rim fill the large E90 rears better. The 159 aren't distinctive in my opinion. Get the 161s, it'll handle better in dry situations.

Thanks for the feedback! The more I look at the 159s, the more I think I like them. If I weren't so lazy I wouldn't mind the summer/winter swapping, but that would get old the first time!

Between 159 and 161 it's definitely 161... But with everything else you wrote, the 159s are better for how you want to use them. If you like the style just as well, go with the 159s.
