Reprogramming key fob
Guys,
I wonder if you can help ?? I seem to have misplaced my spare key and need to replace it. I've done a search and it appears to have BMW do this is very expensive. However there are some mixed messages saying that if you don't have the keyless access its as simple as buying one of the numerous key fobs listed on E-Bay and popping in the slot under the start button and holding it in for 30s and then getting the key cut at any regular key cutting place. This seems far too easy and doesn't really justify BMW's high price as they typically go for anywhere between £12-£40 on E-Bay and then key cutting will only cost circa £5 ?? I've already asked one seller and he seems a bit vague and unsure of how they are coded... Any experiences/advice appreciated Jeff |

Who's to stop some lowlife buying a spare key fob, breaking into your car and reprogramming there and then and driving off? If this is the case. |

Because you have to do it within seconds of removing a genuine, matched key. But I still think it's a myth.

I would be interested to hear this, as I heard the same thing.
Insert original key fob, full ignition, then remove and insert the new one for 30s ? Whether its true I am not sure. . |
