European Delivery
I'm new to this forum and have never owned a BMW before, but currently considering getting one after my LS430 lease expires this summer. I'm thinking of getting a 335 coupe or a 328 coupe. I'm tired of big cars and want something fun to drive.
I keep hearing people talk about European Delivery.... Quote:
Thanks in advance! |

Use the , but most of what you need to know about ED can be found here and here
Yes, ED is available in the US, and if you have the time (as well as a car to get you around in while you await the redelivery of your Bimmer) it's a great option. Basically you: - order the car - fly over to Germany - pick it up - tool around Europe - drop it off with the transport company - fly back to the US - wait impatiently - pick your car up at your dealer Welcome and good move on the switch to BMW... you'll love the car.

Adding on to nmulax's contribution, you do all that is mentioned with cost savings to boot. Also new is having the option to have your car re-delivered (after ED) to BMW's Performance Center and partaking in all the activities/benefits that the PCD option entails, at no extra cost. (www.performanccenterdelivery.com)
These delivery options adds to the experience of buying/owning a BMW.

Start here:http://www.bmwusa.com/bmwexperience/europeandelivery/
and here:http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=30 Although you might save money, it's not really about that. It's a chance for the holiday of a lifetime coupled with the experience of picking up your car where it was built and driving it on the roads it was built for. The main reason it can be cheaper is that BMW discounts the car by quite a bit for ED. Also, the car does not come out of a dealers set allocation - in essence making it a bonus car for them to sell. Armed with the right knowledge you should be able to get ~$1000-1500 over ED invoice pricing easily and probably less than that if you are a master haggler.

And BMW pays your second lease payment while it's on the boat.

Don't do it. You'll likely catch an ED disease and become addicted. It's very expensive as you'll have to continue buying BMWs so you can visit Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, etc, etc. Then, you'll get spoiled from cruising at 100 mph+ with very polite drivers, spned lots of money on new hi-tech cameras. Get fat eating sausages and drinking too much beer. All for about the same price of what your rig would cost if you merely paid non-ED price.
The wife and I did ours in Early Nov too. We went from Munchen to Florence, 9 days total (including airtime), and still came home with a couple hundred more under what we would have paid via non-ED. I almost cried when I had to drive to work at maybe 50 mph on the hwy witth a ton of inconsiderate a-holes the day after we got home. |

Do it! I loved ED and will continue doing it every time I want a new Bimmer.
