Question for the Canon SLR bods.

Does anyone own one of these ?

500D, 50D, 5D II

I am specifically looking at the AEB bracketing. And it states in the spec documentation :

• +/- 2.0 EV
• 0.5 or 0.3 EV increments

What I want to know is how many actual bracketed shots are actually possible ? Stating 0.5 or 0.3 suggests it could be quite a few ?

My present 400D is limited to 3 shots only (maximum +/- 2.0 EV).

Do any on the above listed cameras take more than 3 shots for one set of bracketed exposures ?

Thanks.

D.

The instruction book for the 500D states 3 (page 86) and it seems to be limited by the software functionality fixing it at 3 rather than the increment chosen.

PS the 500D is a great non-professional camera and the 15.1 megapixel resolution is great if you want to crop and expand photos.

Thanks - I downloaded a few of the Canon manuals but not exactly clear if they have more than 3 fixed points. Don't know why they quote the +/- 2.0 EV range can be done in 0.5 or 0.3 EV increments ? Seems to suggest mid-points.

I need a good resolution so will probably upgrade to the 500D.

And get around the bracketing limitation with this :

Exactly what I need

Just playing with my 5D mk ii.

On the AEB you can set the exposure compensation +/- 2 (in 0.3 intervals)but you can then set the bracketing around that (setting a max and a min) by up to +/-2 either side of that.

E.G. I can set the exp comp at -2 and I can bracket up to -4 to 0 (still in 0.3 intervals) but I can do that on my old 20D.

In the custom functions I can change the EV interval (from 0.3 - 0.5) and I can change the order of the bracketing (-,0,+ or 0,-,+) but I can't get it to take more than 3 shots as you you can only set either end of the bracket - not additional intervals inbetween.

Have I explained that ok?
