Peasce of mind? The adapters provide a little more space between the jack & body of the car .......... I don't see the need for them myself.

They had the non-LED one on sale this past weekend for $59.99 and there was a 20% off single item coupon. Too bad some ass wipe bought a whole PALLET of them at the store near me so they were all sold out.

Where is it made?
I have a Craftsman 2-ton aluminum racing jack (#50239). It’s low profile, fits under the E46/E90 jack points, and only needs about 3-4 pumps to get a tire off the ground. I got it about 8 years ago and use it once or twice a month. It’s relatively lightweight and sturdy enough for what I use it for, but I’m not sure how it would hold up to everyday or track use. Unfortunately, I ordered it online and found out it was made in China when I received it. Until then, I had no idea Sears was manufacturing Craftsman mechanic’s tools in communist China! Had I known that, I would have spent more $ to purchase a different brand floor jack that’s made in the US or Europe.

Harbor Freight has the 3,000lb version racing jack on sale for $69.99 in their newspaper ad. The LED version is $89.99 I believe ..... no coupons needed for either of these as they are in-store pricing.
You may want to check out the back pages of some of the car magazines for better pricing w/ coupons. Last edited by ToadHollow; 02-02-2010 at 10:26 AM.. |

I finally found a long reach low profile jack that can reach the center jacking point on the front subframe, and also the rear diff, without putting the car on blocks at all. Heavy as hell and a little expensive, but really convenient to get the car up in seconds.

Yeah that's a bit expensive now, but it is 125lbs so the shipping is darn near $80 or so in the first place. Probably why they raised the price actually. You can probably find it in the $300 range elsewhere.

Check the back ads pages of Car and Driver. They have a coupon for the Harbor Freight Jack without the LEDs though.

Picked one up today from Harbor Freight. I printed the $59.99 coupon from here: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1276399
They would not allow me to combine the 20% off with the sale price of $59.99. Still a great deal! |
