Injen DCI Users - Air Diverter Poll:

For those Injen DCI users, we all know this intake comes with a pretty sick looking air diverter/tunnel. However, it only utilizes the driver side scoop/kidney. I would like to ask the preferences of those who chose to use the OEM air diverter to Injen's, like aFe, BMS, & Vishnu, etc.

Is this even relevant? I am not fortunate enough to own a vented hood or closed intake atm so I am trying to squeeze all performance I can get.

Thank you

I plan to purchase another oem air diverter and mod it so that I can get both air scoops to feed air to the intake, I think it's a serious waste of a scoop to have only 1 feeding air to the intake. It might not make much of a difference, but IDK... Not sure why INJEN didn't do this to begin with

I'm using the Injen diverter at the moment, but I'd really like to figure out a way to increase the flow. I hadn't even thought of using the stock diverter. Coupled with some scoops this could be a substantial improvement. I've got some pooper scooper DIY scoops but I don't use them much due to installation/removal pains.

It shouldn't be all that difficult of a MOD, cut the OEM Divert off, and instead of having it curve one way, re-attach it so it faces towards the INJEN intakes... Or Make a cover that divert's all the air from the stock diverter to both the intakes, kind of like a box, but something that covers the rear of the actual filter element, and directs all the air towards the filters... I'm no fabricator, so I can't even think of how to do that, but I'm sure I could come up with some drawings on how it would look... (not the best artist either)

Could be solid. If I get my hands on a second OEM diverter I'll give it a shot. Some sort of shroud surrounding the elements and connected to the OEM diverter wouldn't be that hard to make, of course I could eat my words on that one.

If you don't care for the looks, then I'd say go with the OEM, if you do, then stick with the Injen.......IMO, it probably won't make a big difference in the end, maybe an extra 2-3 hp?

I'm just not a fan of anything makeshift, to me that might look worse than having just the OEM air diverter just hanging there like those who are running the Vishnu/BMS DCI (including myself).

+++++1

Thanks for the feedback guys. There probably isn't sufficient power gains as many of you said, but more air = more air right? Like why we buy scoops. I'm thinking we are aiding the turbo spool in addition.

By the way I forgot to mention that the Injen air diverter has a slightly wider overall width than the stockOEM. It may be the reason why they chose to just use one grill. For those who are attempting to make their own diverter - keep that feature in mind.

i heard the snorkel from a 328 will work perfectly to funnel air in the opposite direction of the 335 funnel

I ordered some OEM parts from tischer to see if I can fabricate something into a custom air diverter. Getting delivered today, but probably wont be able to play around with it until saturday or sunday...
