BMW Performance Exhaust

If I order from Tischer, will a local dealer install the exhaust and not affect my warranty? From what I've been reading on the forum, you have to cut something to install the exhaust so you can't put the stock exhaust back on. Is that true?

I'm looking for something simple that will provide a little extra performance without too much change in noise or potential for failing emissions tests. Are there any other systems you guys may suggest?

I'm thinking about the PE also. If you look at this accessory on the BMW website, you can choose to select a dealer to install (approx $200) or install it yourself. This would lead me to believe it does not have to be dealer installed for warranty purposes - it is an OEM part afterall. I'll be asking my SA when I bring my car in for service next month to be sure...

You do have to cut the stock pipes to install this. As I understand it, to revert to stock, you simply clamp the old system back on. Sounds simple to me!

The warranty is limited to the product itself, not the installation unless you have installed by a BMW site.. They will warranty any hardware failure but BMW can and will refuse to warranty the exhaust if it was improperly installed eg, the exhaust falls off or is found to be improperly clamped etc.

For a product like an exhaust, I really doubt installation becomes much of a factor for product failure.

Nicely put.

I did speak with the head tech today at my dealership about the BMW PE. I asked him IF there would be any warranty issues IF I decided to have the PE installed by someone else besides the dealership. And as others have stated, he said that AS LONG AS it is installed properly (as determined by their techs), then there shouldn't be any issues with warranty should a problem arise with the mufflers themselves. That's good for me to know, b/c I thought that he would automatically say that the warranty for the PE is good only if installed at a BMW dealership. They charge about $200. I believe you could get it installed by a reputable muffler-type shop for less than $100.

Now, I just have to get myself to order one
