A clay bar doesn't really do anything to remove scratches. It just removes dirt particles that are stuck to the paint that don't come off from normal washing.
Best way to remove scratches from your clear coat is with a light-cutting polish.

Yea, ya might want to wait for a warm day...or hit it with some warm water. And then use one of them waffle weave MF towels to dry it real quick, in BROAD AND DIRECT DAYLIGHT just to see. Or do this immediatly after the wash. Or, wash it and do whatever you keep doing and see if the patterns of the scratches are different and that should answer your Q. You would be surprised how easy it is for the frost to look like this.

Man GL with the polish. My last 3 cars, only one was ever washed in a car wash. ONCE, never again, touchless or not, the pre-wash is not sufficient, especially with the salt here. The damm Civic had streaks on it. Since then, we bought a new house, double garage... lost a lot of "Air loose" with my wife because of that but well worth it!!
Heated double garage, epoxy paint on the floor, bathroom paint on the walls, 2 bathroom vents, plenty of car detailing stuff, one bimmer later= $$$$ and a lot of "air loose" taken away by the wife No swirl marks, wash when I want, and precious time with the cars (once the kids are sleeping) = PRICELESS |

Holy crap, I think the deer called his buddies and had an antler fest on your hood. Anyways, I would try a minor compound with a buffer, not an orbital. If that fails, you can have a body shop wetsand it.
