Helix not adding as much as expected

I got my Helix installed about a month ago

and well, Although I do definitely feel a power boost, it's not as much as I would have originally expected.

When I went from stock to RR DPs, I felt the power tremendously

Now that I have added the Helix FMIC, I don't feel as much of a power boost..

After 80mph, yes, I definitely do feel it more

but in lower RPMs and lower speeds, it's not too noticeable..

is this normal?

I have been constantly boost at 14psi-ish under WOT, so I shouldn't have any boost leaks...

I am running JB3 1.4 Beta Map 5 with 91 octane

Thanks..

An intercooler doesn't add as much power as DPs but prevents you from loosing power from heatsoak. Think of of it as a way to ensure you are running at peak power with no heatsoak worries then adding to the bottom line. Just makes peak power more available.

Totally normal... DPs are all about quick spool and low-end power. FMIC is exactly the opposite. It will shine at high rpm, and situations that would induce high IATs, like back-to-back runs or hotlapping, etc...

off-topic i know but: to take full advantage of DP you should be fully cattless but would running just DP's be significant improvement for time being?

You'll notice the difference in summer. Or if you do some canyon runs now...

Fwiw, going non cat DPs should add alot of Power - do it.
But taking out the secondary cars is only worth a few hp And it is louder And can smell also.

Most people run non cat dps and leave the seconary cats in.

thats why I'm thinking if you want noticeable power gains, the stock intercooler + meth injection is a better way to go..

I'm curious, can you pass emissions testing with just secondary cats?

If you were to log the boost, you will find that a better intercooler will increase some power with less boost.
For example,
When GIAC first came out they had a stage 1 flash which was meant for a car with only a cat back exhaust. It was supposed to peak at around 15 psi.
I had catless DPs and an IC with exhaust and I was able to get more power than advertised with peak boost of 13.6 psi.
The IC just provides great efficiency.

Thats great for turbo efficiency thats for sure...running less boost and making the same power! Can't wait to get my HPF fmic.

I'm not going to lie, turbo spool is quicker but I don't see "that" big of an increase with catless dp's. Up top it pulls harder, but other than that I'm pretty on par with a catted n54 till about 90mph. I'm going to check this weekend and see if i'm losing boost, but this has been my experience thus far.

Also, Mike hit it spot on. It's not about "more" power, it's about consistency. Your turbos will love you long time the more miles you put on them.

dp or ic alone will not make you half car ahead in street racing situation. there are ton other variable anyways...

as many mentioned, i didn't put IC for MORE POWER (not entirely at least), but rather to prevent heat soak and lowering IAT. i also heard that if you track your car before/after IC, you will notice the difference much more...

Helix makes a great FMIC and I would not put it on to gain a kick in the pants power gain but to keep the power consistant. I am sure your car is faster with it.

Stock IC and heat soak vs Aftermarket IC and no heat soak. All of the other mods are the same.

Ahh, I just did about 20 3rd gear pulls tonight with Helix FMIC, Forge DVs and GIAC stage 1.

I love how the DVs handle the higher RPMs. It just feels so stable like an NA car.
