Have I been driving an unsafe car!?
Hi All
Firstly this is not a BMW dealer, this is my company fleet department. Had a slide a few weeks back in the snow and front wheel hit the kerb knocking a piece out of the alloy. Car goes in and new wheel is ordered and replaced. Get the car back and it feels like its pulling to the left and when you turn right theres a grinding/vibration that can be felt through the pedals and steering wheel. Took car back in. They said it was the road camber pulling me to the left! and to "see how it goes" as they had now sorted the tracking. As I just town drive I thought id see how it went.. Anyway I had to make a motorway journey and doing a right hand bend at speed was really shaking the car and very loud grinding noise. Took the car back in again today and within half hour they call me and say "the wheel bearing has gone"!! Im no mechanic so was wondering if I was actually at risk driving the car? Im a bit annoyed this wasn't picked up and even more annoyed ive been driving my son around. Si..

If the bearings did get damaged as a result of your knock, then it might well have suffered some kind of impact fracture, which isn't good and could have resulted in collapse.
