So I'm REALLY wanting to get my E90's wheels powder coated/painted a gloss black. What the hell do people do with their car?! Do they take it to a shop to have the tires taken off then get it towed home and have it sit on blocks for a week while the wheels get done?! What're my options here? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would take the wheels off myself, leave the car at my house on jack stands, get tires dismounted, and then take them to get powdercoated

+1 unless you have another set of wheels to use in the meantime. another reason to have a summer and winter set

Yea, I guess I should invest in a winter set...lol

VB doesnt get much winter (until this year) so I never entertained the idea.

Idk how comfortable I feel with my car on jack stands out in the elements for a week...good idea though!

Trying to find a friend that has a garage, throw him a few bucks (or a case of beer ha) and try to keep my car on jacks in there for awhile and just rent a car for a week.

if you're using the sport package OEM tires, then they arent very safe IMO when temps drop below 50 degrees. they get really hard and can easily lose grip b/c of the soft compound used (i've found this out many times).

VB may not get much snow, but i'm sure it doesnt stay above 50 degrees during the winter. get a winter setup that you can use for 3 months a year and you can always sell it later if it doesnt work out.

Yes, my car is fully stock. I didn't know about the grip problem...would explain why my wheels seem to just wanna spin with the least aggressive of gas pedal usage. Info like this is exactly why I joined this forum!

Precision Powder Coating in Virginia Beach will hook it uppp! They know a shop right up the street from them (Race Works) that will dismount the wheels. And PPC is also going to let me store my car on their secure lot! SWEEET!

Good info for anyone looking to get some powder coating done in the Hampton Roads area!!! Really takes the hassle out of it.
