They left the boot area alone. As you can see from the photo a pipe comes out of the small exhaust box on the left exhaust and goes around the back of the boot well and over to the right exhaust. Works pretty well

I think I see that now nice to know it can be done without messing with that boot well.

I don't get the furore present in this thread.
When did someone putting CSL wheels on a boggo M3 ever get such random comments thrown at them? There are a number of comments indicating people don't understand why anyone would do this. Like the CSL wheels the 335i/d twin exhaust looks good, as the 335i/d owners no doubt agree. If you're not in a position to buy a 335i/d but like the looks (the position the OP sounds like he is in), for what little it takes why shouldn't he fit them? Remove the original model badge and no one would know any better unless he (foolishly) decided to race them. Avoid that however and putting performance aside, he can enjoy the looks and prestige of a higher spec model. I'm not saying there aren't limits to modding stuff beyond which I think it seems a bit pointless, I recall E46 330cis that had huge sums spent on them to look almost M3 like, but the owners then didn't flare the rear arches, that always perplexed me. But there are no such extremes here. If after the work it looks like 335i/d then, that's cool, because I think 335i/ds happen to look good. And this will be one more good looking car.
