Just had my muffler deleted a few days ago, with today being one of the full days I've had to spend with it.. and now I've started to wonder what my options are?

The installation was done flawlessly, and the final product is a great looking quad setup which I'm absolutely in love with. But in terms of the MD I'm starting to have serious second thoughts. The exhaust note is sweet and I love its depth, tone, and throttle blips but it's simply toooo loud. I can't believe so many people are rockin' no mufflers to be honest haha but to all their own. It doesn't help that the cops here are dicks when it comes to this.

To cut to the chase, my stock bumper has been cut as shown in the pics at the link above, so removing the diffuser would look pretty awful - there'd be a giant slit in the bumper where the current one lies in the diffuser, not to mentioned widened exhaust tip outlets - and I'd like to keep my quad setup. I'd like to revert to my stock mufflers and keep the tips (CYBA staggered single layer black chrome tips btw for those who have asked). Only issue is the way the current quad tips would meet the OEM pipping from the OEM muffler would require the diffuser to be expanded a few inches which I don't think is an option?

The only options I've been able to come up with:
1) Extensive piping work (bending) to the piping between the stock muffler to the stock exhaust tips (which would be removed) to be fitted to the piping inlet location of the quad tips?

2) Simply sell the bumper and diffuser to someone looking for a MD'd quad setup and upgrade to an m-tech?

3) Aftermarket mufflers? Can you guys recommend a few?

4) BMW performance exhaust.. hahah i wish

Any other suggestions you guys can think of would be appreciated along with comments/feedback

theres a boat load of exhaust options out there bro. but sad to say there most likely gonna be about 8x the price of that muffler delete..

maybe a race cat down pipe into magnaflow mufflers?

maybe try some resonators? i cant find the thread now but there are a few people who have bought resonators and installed them and they say it definitely quits the exhaust and removes alot of rasp. i think the ones he used were the ones that HPF has on their website, i think they're like a hundred bucks.

+1 for the maganflows..also try a resonator as someone else stated..Im fully catless w/straight pipes and magnaflow mufflers(but I did leave on the stock resonator)..sounds great

In terms of Magnaflow mufflers, how much of a change in the exhaust note is there? And for those of you running Mag mufflers with the rest of the exhaust stock, what mufflers do you recommend?

Hmm, I'm guessing you're talking about the Vibrant Exhaust Resonators on HPF

Depends on how loud you want to go. If you want a nice tone and a little louder than stock try the 14" long 6" round race mufflers. If you want is a little bit louder try the 14" long 4" round race mufflers.

I'd like to quiet it down just a bit.. and to be honest just running mufflers in and of itself would make me feel 100x better

The purpose of a resonator is to control tone, not to reduce noise.

To the original poster, I already replied to your PM, but if you would like to reduce the sound of the exhaust, you are going to have to weld in mufflers. The kind and design is purely your choice.

Some EXCELLENT quality mufflers are magnaflow and Aeroturbine (on the expensive side).

If you want to retain the muffler delete, I would recommend splitting each of the exhaust outlets where they were deleted down to dual 1.5" pipes on each side. You will have a quad set up and it will require you to trim your bumper a bit. Why do I recommend this? The smaller the diameter the piping, the higher the frequency the exhaust note will operate on. The noise is created by the pressure wave in the exhaust tract, the the larger the piping, the longer the wavelength, and the more drone you will experience because the car will be usually operating in those ranges. The shorter the wavelength via a change in piping diameter, the higher the pitch (think M5, M6, true the have shorter stroked motors, but their exhaust systems are highly tuned for sound).

In terms of Magnaflows, what other sizes do you recommend to simply lower the volume a tad bit? If slightly lowered I'd enjoy it knowing I was running mufflers.. cops here have nothing better to do

Look up AKBMW he had the 14" 4in round and he has sound clips its sounds good. I went with the 6 in round as I had muffler deletes for awhile and while it sounded good around town on the highway it droned way to bad. So I went with the 6in round and now its just a little louder than stock with a very nice tone to it, but its still loud enough that you can tell I have a aftermarket exhaust on it.
