E92 BMW Performance Exhaust - Cutting?

Hi there. I've seen some good feedback on the BMW performance exhaust here on the board, but had a question. Looked to me like the system was bolt-on -- but last week one of the parts salespeople at my local BMW parts center (who had one installed on his E92) said his tech had cut off the old muffler and clamped on the new one. Looking at a diagram of the new system it looks like it should be a simple swap?

On the other hand, I've noticed some chatter about people not liking that the tips stick out a bit further than the OEM tips -- perhaps this is where the cutting comes in?

For those of you with OEM BMW Performance exhaust upgrades, did you need to cut off the old muffler? I have access to a lift, so without cutting this would be an hour or two job, but if I have to cut out the old system I'd probably just have my BMW center do the install. Thanks!

Never mind, I stink at searching. Found a nice write-up. Mods, delete!

I wonder if people who say it sticks out to far did NOT cut off a few inches behind that cats?
