Is it worth it ?

Hello
I'm a new bmw owner and have questions about the extended waranty
Is it worth it to purchase the extra 2 year waranty?
Will it work like the original 4 year waranty?
How about the certified pre-owned waranty?

Thanks

Depends on # of miles and where you drive. If you drive ~10-12k miles year mostly hwy then no. If I were you I would set aside ~$3k for out-of-warranty repairs and call it a day.

Factory Warranty: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte.../Warranty.aspx

Not covered under CPO: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...otCovered.aspx

What if you are NOT the first owner? I understand that you have to be the first owner to buy extended warranty, but has a second owner been able to buy the extended warratny?

I don't think you need to be the first owner, it just has to have been serviced by BMW I think. As for the extended warranty, I don't think it is worth it. I would just put the money aside and call it a day.

Thanks for your replies

As I read through the things covered in factory warranty and not covered in Certified Pre-Owned, I realized that CPO is just a worthless thing to get. Almost, minor maintenance issues are covered with CPO.
As for the extended, I also read somewhere in BMW website that I have to be the first owner in order to get the extended program.
So, Is there any way I can get the extended warranty ?
And why do you say it is not worth it ? If it is the same as the regular so it will cover almost everything in the car, is it still not a good deal ?

Thanks
