Goodbye my friends
Well, after owning 2 e92 320i bmws and being vastly dissapointed I've decided to move to the dark side & get a merc.
I'm sad to say this but the car just hasn't lived up to what I expected and I'm bored of the same story from the dealers. One minute it runs fine then for the next 5 it runs like an old fiesta. Such a shame as I still think it's the best looking car on the market. Thanks to everyone for all their help and suggestions over the past 2 years and you never know I may well be back! Love and peace to y'all

Yeah as above, probably the worst engine for that car.
Has the rest of the car been ok apart from the engine... thats seems to be where your gripe is. Good luck with the merc. |

Hi Colsen
As you know, I feel your pain....! Trouble is I understand Merc are suffering very similar problems.... Very pleased to say that the 320d was the right answer for me. However, fact is that BMW really should have sorted this problem, properly, by now so can't blame you defecting!

at the moment i am hearing so much stories on the merc engine failing, my brother in law has a brand new E250cdi had it 3 months and had all the injecters replaced, and there was 15 cars in the garage waiting to be fixed, also i have a friend that has a new E220cdi and that had blew too he is 65 and a steady driver and allways had mercs the latest one is rubbish on MPG and keeps going wrong,so merc is not bullet proof

Yeah make sure you don't buy a 250cdi engine, they have been failuing big time!!
Have to say I don't blame you though, the new Merc Class looks great, rides great and is a reallynice car, the new E Class is fantatstic. |

Must be shite when a car doesn't live up to expectations, my last disappointment was one of the very early Ford Focus, certainly don't expect it with a more expensive marque, but as we all know............
Why a Merc out of interest and which model......if you're still reading this forum lol? |

Hi guys thanks for the messages, Im also aware of the engine problems on the new blue efficiency models so I steered clear of those.
Believe it or not I got a merc c class when mine was in the garage once as they had no courtesy cars so rented me one from enterprise, I'd never considered a merc c class until I drove the new one and was very impressed. There are some features I'll miss on the BMW like the chunky steering wheel and masses of grip, but also my family is expanding and I could really do with a 4 door car and I ever so slightly prefer the look of the c class with the AMG kit. I've gone for an ex demonstrator fully loaded C220 cdi, it'll be totally diff but I can't wait to try something new, but when I'm just as annoyed with the mercedes dealers no doubt I'll be back catching up with you all!

If it's an ex-demo, it would be a '59-plate I guess? If so, I don't want to worry you, but it would be BlueEfficiency so could (potentially) be prone to the injector issues.
It's not just the 250 that is having the problems, it's any of the 4-cyl diesels. Fingers crossed that yours is a good'un though. My (pre-BE) 220 is a pretty good car. MPG isn't spectacular, but good enough, and it is plenty comfy with nice toys (COMAND is great). |

Ditto, I had a kompressor C class from Enterprise last year and tbh didn't know what to expect but, tell you what, I certainly didn't leave the car after two days thinking it was rubbish. Quite the opposite actually, was pleasantly surprised. Well put together and no slouch.

C250 Cdi Merc B E
I have the 250d and actually hate the car its covered 1400mls in 5 months ,I have had it in for two software upgrades and so far no issues with injectors
TBH I did ask the service manager and he said that i was well informed and where did i get the info from actually one of your salesmen gave me the heads up at the filling station,he as well suprised. I think the injector issue is now sorted at source and there will be a product recall later this year to replace all the built BE 4 cyl diesels with new problem free injectors The Merc is at least as well built as the BMW we also have ,in the 4cyl version its a bit noisy like my brothers 320d ,it seams to have plenty of torque if you push it but just isnt like a e90 If anyone is interested in a 250d be c class sport estate in palladium silver ,black leather ,18"amg,parktronic, auto box , with 59 plate and 1450 mls i would consider selling |
