Used PROcede

A friend and I were talking and wondered if it would be possible to someday purchase a used XEDE. Not whether somebody would sell it to me, but if you could actually swap them from car to car. Is it possible to put the same unit in multiple cars?

You mean like sharing your procede with your buddy that has a 335i also?

Ya you should beable to put your procede on and off whenever you fell like it.

I also dont see why it wouldnt beable to go onto another 335i. They are the same car with the same engine.

Thats why a lot of people are interested in getting it. So they can take it off before they go to the dealership. Other than the obvious hp/torque gains.

No, my friend drives a 318is and it's not for him too. He know's a lot about bimmer things and we were just talking. I was considering buying a used unit sometime down the road and wondered if the Procede stored VIN numbers or made each unit bound to the first car it's put on.

I wouldn't share my XEDE, once it's on it wouldn't come off, unless I took it in for service of course.

If you reuse an Xede or a Procede, wouldn't that make it a Recede?

I'll sell you mine in about 2 years unless I buy another car that can utilize the hardware

My hairline is starting to recede because of how fast my car is now.

Haha... recede!

The only issue that I can think of is going from Stick to Steptronic... The configuration is probably different. There could be differences in the Map as well...

Great it's a deal.

Plus people tell me that I have alot of hair, meaning that there's enough to spare.

I am hoping there is a re-sale market as well. I am leasing my 335 and plan on installing the PROcede and then selling it when the lease is up.

In the last 4 years, we've sold 4 different kinds of Xedes. Each one for a different type of car (dependant on crank sensor and MAF sensor types). The most popular Xede out there right now is the Mitusbishi EVO Xede. This will not work on the 335i due to it being configured to rely on a frequency-based MAF sensor input. The second most popular Xede out there is for a Subaru WRX/STi. Again, this one wont work on the 335i due to the type of crank trigger it has.

At the end of the day, the Xede wasn't the ideal solution for the BMW due to hardware limitations, specifically the number of inputs and outputs, that limited its future upgradability. Good enough for initial beta testing though.

The PROcede, on the other hand, is borderline excessive when it comes to the hardware its packin in that box. This means that the unit itself essentially universal (unlike the Xede). It's been designed, from the ground up, to be fully configurable through software and firmware. This means that our upcoming Porsche 996 Twin Turbo PROcede will be physically identical to the BMW N54 Xede. A simple firmware upgrade should be all that it takes to swap between platforms. Re-using or re-selling a PROcede after you sell your car shouldn't be much of a problem.

Cheers,
shiv

my question about xede is this. If you buy a shark injector from turnermotorsports.com and install it in your e36 328i it stores the VIN # that shark injector cannot be used on any other car other than your 328i. They made this so you just dont go passing along a shark injector. Will xede do the same.

I assume you are referring to the PROcede, not Xede. We no longer sell the Xede for the 335i

And to answer your question, no the PROcede does not lock itself to a specific car/vin number. You can move it from car to car without any licensing/security issues.

Shiv just answered this a few minutes ago. A PROcede (not XEDE) can be re-used or re-sold to another owner of the same car (without flashing) or another compatible TT car (requires a flash update).

EDIT: Shiv was too quick to answer!

Thanks shiv, that really helps. alpine 318 is the friend I was talking about.

By the way do you anticipate anyone replicating your type of hardware or are you more unique to the "chip" market?

Have there been any copies of the other XEDE models?

The hardware is easy to replicate. The tough part is the software and firmware that runs the show. The other tough part is actually implementing the whole system sucessfully in an application. Simply getting control of spark advance and load sensor output is the easy part. Any number of aftermarket piggyback computers can do that. Doing all that, making safe power, making it drivable, all the while without tripping any codes/faults is the hard part. It's certainly do-able as evident by our results. But it wasn't easy to do. I suspect there aren't many options out there for a reason. The 335i was a tough nut to crack for sure. We've focused on interceptor-style devices and ecu reflashing since 2001. Knowing how ECUs work and how they respond to different inputs really helped us get us to this point.

Cheers,
shiv

Do you have any HP gains or specifics on the chip for the Porsche 996 Twin Turbo? My friend has one and was telling him about the PROcede and he was wondering if you guys had anything out for his Porsche yet.

Thanks,
Lance

SHIV............................................

Will you be making a stage 1+, or a stage 2 or 3 software for the 335i, dealing with different intercoolers and exhausts and turbos or what not???

Also you guys have been testing out the 335i, is it possible to raise the PSI even more than you guys have done already with the PROcede or does it seem the 335i needs other modifications done to it, like an exhaust or upgraded intercooler like i mentioned above??
