Concerned about engine software update
Hi,
I went to the dealer to install some BMW accessory and I also requested a software update to my Power Kit software, if available. The dealer said they would check if there are any updates for my car. My concern is: how do they check for updates ? If the BMW diagnosis station detects that I have the Power Kit software, will it indicate if there is a Power Kit update, or will it search for the latest stock software update ? I mean, could a lame technician accidentally overwrite my Power Kit software with the stock one ?

My dealer just called and said that indeed there was a new Power Kit software available, which they installed He also said they don't have to choose what software to install, the BMW station chooses automatically based on what is installed in the car.

I had the new software installed 2 weeks ago. Had some longer cranks in the morning which they solved with this.

Any other improvements noticed ? My car dynoed 252whp on a Mustang recently after initially (few months ago) dynoing 297whp on the same dyno. Although I didn't feel a power loss. I am thinking there was something wrong with the Power Kit or with the dyno or I had bad gas in the tank. I will dyno again after the update...
