dab v tv

my 08 x5 that i am picking up this week has digital tv
my question is
will it pick up digital radio as in dab or is that completely separate?

DAB is completely separate to Digital TV (Freeview I presume which from memory is DVB)

As mentioned by Boyd1963 above, Digital TV will only pick up TV channels, and not digital radio. You can spec both on a new car on the configurator.

Yep,

DVB telly does contain audio channels too, but I'm sure the BMW won't let you us them.

DAB for radio is totally separate technology and will need another option box ticked.

Indeed it does but it's not the same as DAB. Sorry I was being a bit too literal. Would be interested to know if you can pick them up in the car.

That will allow the TV to carry on playing whilst the vehicle is on the move - great for music channels if it works

Got one fitted in the M3 as it's great for playing music DVD's on the go!!
