sub install help needed...

I have pm'ed some of you sub/amp install questions and you all have been very helpful. I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me. I just have a few more questions to ask and then I will be installing the sub and amp soon.

I have read that the left channel is wire 8 +, wire 18 - and the right channel is wire 6 +, wire 16 -. Can someone please let me know which wire should be what? I have attached a picture of the amp and labeled the possible wires(1-6) I am suppose to tap.

I think I am suppose to use wires 1,2,5, and 6, but I do not know which is what channel and which is + or -. This is for the Logic 7 amp. I am using the PAC trunk-loc.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

1,2 are one channel and 3,4 are the other channel. you should get a pac trunk-loc if you are gonna do this setup. if you use a pac trunk-loc:

wire 1- (red/blue) will go with the gray wire from pac.
wire 2- (brown/white) will go with the gray/black wire from pac.
those are the right sub wires.

wire 3- (red/white) will go with the white wire from pac.
wire 4- (brown/yellow) will go with the white/black from pac.
those are the left sub wires.

green wire from pac should go on wire 4 (brown/yellow).

ground wire form pac goes to ground on car or ground it to the amp(i grounded to the amp ground).

red wire from pac goes to +12 on amp.

blue wire from pac goes to remote on amp.

good luck.

Its a line output converter...basically lets you add an amplifier to a factory radio by converting the radio's speaker level output to the lower amplifier (RCA) level input of the amplifier

wow thanks a lot ntp! so you're not supposed to tap into the wires running out from the radio but rather out from the factory amp?

also, why does the "green wire from pac go on wire 4 (brown/yellow)." can you specify what the green wire is?

yea you tap into the factory amp. the green wire is the trigger. you dont have to connect it to the exact same wire as i did. you can connect it to any speaker wire. i just decided to follow the pac instructions; so there wouldnt be any confusion. if you need any help; just let me know.

so all the the work would be kept inthe trunk and no need to run wires from the head unit. also, i was told my other members this was the proper way to get it done in our cars. i have a few random pics of the install, but nothing thorough. if you need help; let me know.

hey thanks for all the help! any reason why you went with PAC over the other brands? like say stinger? can you just tap into one of the speaker wires already going into the PAC for the remote turn-on? i.e. make a 3 way connection between factory wire, grey PAC, and green PAC for remote?

It is a line output converter...they're discontinued. You can get any LOC just make sure its compatible with your amp's signal sensing turn on feature so you don't have to run a REM wire.

The cable you ran to your speakers from the amp could be crossing a power or ground cable. Check your wiring and make sure none of the wires are close to power cables.

Edit: Just realized this question was asked a year ago. Haha

Would you please elaborate how to find a LOC that is compatible. I'm looking to do the install myself. What exactly do i need to make it work? I have an amp and sub already taken from my old car. Can i use a standard wiring kit?

The L7 sub outputs are 70W so a LOC that can handle a 70W or more input would be ok. I'm using a 60W LOC and haven't had any problems so far. I never turn it up that high. You'll know it's not compatible because the LOC will cut out.
