Anyone with experience in Portland ORE?
Anyone with any experience at either of the two Portland, OR dealers, Kuni or Rasmussen?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on an order, but would like to pick the right one as much for after-sales service experience as for the usual considerations during the sales process. Neither is particularly convenient to our place - we live across the river in Vancouver, WA. By a small margin, I've been more impressed by Kuni - part of it may be that theirs is a brand new facility. Anyone with any thoughts? |

Was more impressed with Rasmussen
Just ordered my 330 from Rasmussen. Got $1000 off MSRP on my 330 order. Was impressed with Rasmussen just a little more than Kuni. Had to wait around more than once at Kuni which leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The salesman at Rasmussen seemed more professional and took me on a tour of the entire facility.

I've bought 5 BMWs from Kuni over the past 5 years. I just bought a 330i from them yesterday.
They've always been great to me. They have always done correctly service my cars there and I've never had any problems. Their new facility is great, the only issue seems to be that on weekends the salespeople are very busy and it can sometimes be a wait. If you do go to Kuni, see Wally and tell him that Brian C. sent you.

I bought my 325 from Peter Pan BMW before I moved up here to Portland, so I don't know how the sales department is, but Kuni's service department has been amazingly good.
The window regulator broke with the window in the down position one drizling Portland afternoon and Kuni had me in and out the same day for the repair. The sales guys let me take a brand new (at the time) 5 series out for an hour long test drive while I waited. Kuni also had no problem with the full BMW warranty coverage on brakes and clutches. Even though they know I regularly tracked the car and drove the piss out of it, they never once had a problem paying for 2 sets of rotors/pads in the front and one set in the rear, plus a clutch. I have nothing but praise for Kuni... Greg |

Thanks for the input. We moved from California in 2003. Did a fair amount of business at Peter Pan in the very old days, before me moved to the East Bay - mostly Concord BMW after that.

I just bought a 330i from Rasmussen and they gave me $1,700 off MSRP and free cloth and all weather floormats and I also got free wheel locks. It was a great experience and the sales people are very professional.

RASMUSSEN > KUNI. Period.
I recently went to kuni bmw ALOT because I had to make a decision quick(E46 M3 or E90 330i). I only went to kuni at first, since it had bigger(=better?) and nicer looking dealership than Rasmussen. But service wasn't any good. I don't want to be too detailed about my experience(it could really hurt their reputation over the web imo. at least thats what I think.). but lets just simply say, if you want to get your BMW from a trustworthy dealership with GOOD deal, go to RASMUSSEN. After a long back-and-fourth to kuni dealership, the very first day I went to rasmussen, we sat down immediately, and finished the deal in 30min. The whole dealership experience took less than 1hour. (not including test drive). I got $1300 off MSRP and near EXACT car w/ EXACT option I wanted. Couldn't be happier. I will recommand everyone I know around me to Rasmussen.

I bought from Rasmussen and overall I am happy. They did a couple very stupid things with my trade-in (like taking it one month before the new E90 I ordered arrived), but overall I would recommend them.
The Kuni salespeople always seems to have a snob feel to them for some reason. |

Forgot to mention, if you do order from Rasmussen, do not let them put the license plates on the car for you, they will drill right through the front bumper and mess the bumper up. I have to order plugs for the hole they made.

Rasmussen salesman wouldn't allow me to tell them not to put on the
front license plate. I don't know why. Something about its not legal and it already comes drilled from the factory. Rasmussen BMW being in 30 best BMW dealership in north america for past 4 years also help their reputation. They told me about sales record, and Kuni always sold 200+ cars less than Rasmussen annually. Thats alot.

Rasmussen sent me a box of fruits today as a thank you. I thought that was pretty nice. If I remember correctly, they might put the plate holders on as soon as the car hits the lot. I just ordered some plugs from www.bumperplugs.com and will tell you what I think as soon as I get them.

Update: Got my car from Rasmussen.
They did granted my "no-front-plate" request, and I am 101% satisfied. Also gave me free detailing goodies(genuine BMW shampoo/wax/wheel cleaner/leather goods).

Drilling into bumpers and taking your trade "ONE MONTH" before your car arrives = easy decision= buy from Kuni. I bought from Kuni, excellent salesmen, very professional and I know they wouldn't do shit to the car if I even hinted at not wanting something. Salesmen called and emailed me every day or 2 for a week or 2 after too make sure I was truely happy with my car.
